Yes, that’s right boys and girls — it’s another episode of Democrats were for it before they were against it. And yes, they were for torture.
Not only did Nancy Pelosi know about and approve the use of water-boarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques, top Democrat Chuck Schumer of New York is on the record, in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing no less, defending the use of real torture on tape — not water-boarding, not enhanced interrogation, but actual torture:
Ahhh, but that was before Democrats saw an opportunity to actively undermine national security for partisan gain.
Now, these very same Democrats want to prosecute Bush Administration lawyers for merely giving their legal opinions that water-boarding does not constitute torture and is therefore permissible. Let me emphasize that — they are not talking about prosecuting people who water-boarded, they want to prosecute people for expressing an opinion.
And yes, the same Chuck Schumer is among those calling for investigating Bush officials for prosecution:
I don’t know what more evidence anyone could possibly require to prove that Democrats have knowingly, actively undermined national security for partisan gain. We have top Democrats not only approving enhanced interrogation, but advocating for the necessity of actual torture, and we have them on the record, actively trying to undermine those tactics they admit are necessary for the defense of the nation. For years they have been dragging the United States through the mud for all the world, and all our enemies to see, for using tactics they themselves admit are necessary.
It’s time for prosecutions all right — but not prosecutions of President Bush and his administration for their legal protection of the country — it’s time to prosecute Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer and other Democrats for their open, blatant treason against the United States of America for partisan political gain.

You know, before I even really knew who Chuck Schumer was, I saw a video on the congressional hearings regarding the Waco incident with the Branch Davidians. At one point, during a discussion on tactics and weapons used, Chuck Schumer explicitly tried to tell a man who was highly trained in weaponry and tactics that a Flash-Bang is not a grenade. Now, as a former member of the United States Army, and a longtime studier of weapons, tactics, etc…a flash-bang is listed very specifically as a type of grenade. At that point, democrat, republican, or independent, I had lost faith in the distinguished gentleman from NY… He will say whatever it is he has to, even to an expert who knows what he’s talking about, to make sure his point is loud, clear and right despite any actual facts to the contrary.
