This took place in Sweden, with a creative idea to get more people to take the stairs. I wonder if pedestrians tried to play known tunes? A delightful solution.
Now this I’d like to have in my own house:

Yes, but note that the escalator is still running. Good for the people’s health (and entertainment), but doesn’t do much for energy conservation.
