You know, if you think back, Obama has been "given" most of what he has, as opposed to having worked for and earned it. He got a special deal on his house from Tony Rezko, and on the lot next door. Bill Ayres at least helped to rewrite his book. Bill Ayres put him in charge of the Annenberg Challenge, which lost what — $100 million to transform Chicago schools — and it was all just wasted. Orders came down at the University of Chicago to find some position for him. The Majority Leader of the State Senate decided that he was going to "Make me a Senator." Makes for high expectations and little sense of working to achieve something, nor understanding of the private sector, only an understanding of the crony capitalism that seems to underlie Chicago politics. All just coincidental, of course.

The part about all this that really tics me off (besides all the money spent) is that Obama, who rails against the rich, has decided to live as a stereotypical Hollywood version of rich. The over-large staff, multiple planes for family members (and the dog!), the expensive vacations, Michelle's taste in clothing... All of it is a projection of what "the rich" live like. The problem is, Obama isn't doing any of this with his own money - it's all charged off to the taxpayer. And the hell of it is, Obama could very well afford to do most of this on his own dime.
