I'm worried a lot about the next two years, but Obama is on his own now. He's "empowered" because he doesn't have to face another election, but on the other hand he can no longer blame his failings on Bush. The Chicago-style politics that come so naturally to him don't set so well with the rest of the country. His vicious campaign won the election for him, but he does not have the skill-set to address the unemployment problem and the coming recession. ObamaCare begins to actually take effect, it is incredibly bad law, and even now is making a mess of everything it touches.

Republicans have a long bench of young governors who are putting their states in order, as well as a raft of outstanding people in Congress. The Democrats have — Hillary? And she not only has four years with the only accomplishment the number of miles traveled, but she has Benghazi as a permanent ball and chain.

Exactly. I am tired of all of the naval-gazing and "woulda, shoulda, coulda" commentary. Well if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass a-hoppin'.
We lost because more people voted for the other guy, period. All the talk of "demographics" is just a another attempt to divert the conversation. Obama got 8 million fewer votes than he did in 2008, but Romney got 3 million fewer than McCain. If all of the McCain voters had showed up, Romney would have won. But somehow we failed on that. Now we just have to live with it.

Change principles, just to wim an election? Not on your life. More people identify themselves as Republicans than as Democrats. More people indentify themselves as conservative than liberal (or progressive). The Republicans have the ideas. And, more and more locally, the Republicans have the "diversity" that the Democrats wished they had.

Obama was and is a liar, and fundamentally a dishonest person. His re-election didn't change that. All through the campaign, both with people I kow and on various blogs, I heard people talking about the "lies" being told about Obama by the Romney campaign. I every single instance, I would challenge them to name one specific "lie" being told by the Romney campaign - just one. The response was invariably to try and change the subject, or at least ignore the challenge. But when I called Obama a liar, no one ever challenged me.

So Obama got re-elected. Our task now as Republicans is to try and mitigate the damage that Obama has done, will do, and wants to do.

I worked for 3 Presidents (Reagan, Bush 41, and Clinton). I have always and always will have the utmost respect for the office of the President. But for the person... that respect must be earned. Clinton didn't get it from me. Obama most likely won't either.

So, to my fellow Republicans and conservatives: Stop complaining. We lost. Now we move on to win the next.
