This was before birth control too. They were also the parents of a large percentage of baby boomers, perhaps because they didn&#039;t have many siblings and wanted more kids? The welfare state in Europe, and the accompanying less hopeful society has meant that most European countries are below replacement levels, which is why they have opened up so much to Muslim immigrants, who have enough of a higher birth rate that Europe will be Muslim by 2050.
