The Associated Press has assigned 11 reporters to “fact check” every page of Sarah Palin’s new 432 page memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. The number of reporters they assigned to fact check recent books by Obama, Biden, Pelosi, both Clintons and Ted Kennedy? Zero.
That’s not reporting, that’s an agenda.

No, he didn’t win the election, but he scored a big victory for conservatives nonetheless. He put the Republican party on notice that
- They cannot win without conservative support. And
- If they continue to put up liberal, big-government candidates like Dede [D] Scuzzyfavors, they will continue to lose.
Which strikes me as a very good message for the party establishment to get heading into 2010. Particularly at the same time that an across the board conservative candidate scored a record-breaking victory in Virginia, and a fiscally conservative candidate wins the governorship in New freakin’ Jersey.
The Hoffman win also sends a very important message to conservatives of all stripes across America — that if conservatives want to win, they must work within the two party system. Hoffman would have won had he been the Republican candidate. He did better than anyone thought he could just a few months ago, but lost, in the end, because third parties do not have the organization, the manpower, the funding, or the trust of the American people. Say what you will about the Republican party, but the American people know it, it is familiar, and they have at least a vague, general sense what it stands for. (Lets not forget, either, that according to both Rassmussen and CNN, Americans now trust the Republican party more on every major issue, than they do Democrats.) It is all too easy to paint someone running on a third party ticket as too extreme for the mainstream. Indeed their candidacy is itself an admission that they are too extreme to work within the two-party system.
But conservatives, and Hoffman supporters, must not rest on their laurels. The party apparatus that nominated Dede Scuzzyfavors in NY-23 is still in place. We cannot assume that they are receptive to the message the Hoffman candidacy sent. Afterall, they nominated Dede [D] — that means they are of the opinion that she is the right direction for the party to go. It is up to conservatives in NY-23 to get involved in the party, and make certain that those same people are not in a position to pick next year’s nominee.
Indeed, all across the country, conservatives must make certain that their local party is being led by people who want to advance conservative principles over liberal RINOS. No, it doesn’t mean that every candidate can be conservative. Nor does it mean that the Republican party is not a big tent.
It means that conservativism won Republicans the majority and big government Republican “moderates” put us right back in the minority. It means that while there is plenty of room for “moderates” in the Republican party, that doesn’t mean they have the right to lead it! Indeed, since they are responsible for our minority status, they don’t get to lead it anymore.

Chicago to pay rewards for citizens who turn in tax-cheating neighbors. A person could make a fortune just turning in the Chicago natives in the Obama administration!
Ahh, but it only counts if the tax cheats are businesses. So, since no one in the tax-evading Obama administration or corrupt Democrat congress has ever worked a real job, I guess they remain safe from paying for their felonious, tax-dodging ways.
Funny how it always works out that way!

Support for Obamacare has always been weak. He was able to garner majority support for a brief moment following his infamous and very deceptive speech in which millions of Americans around the country were shouting along with Representative Joe Wilson, “YOU LIE!”
Since then, despite the administrations best efforts to demonize anyone and everyone who gets out the truth about his plans, the American people have nonetheless learned what Obamacare will mean to them. This bill will cause our rates to skyrocket, cause our taxes to skyrocket, make care harder to get, and will force millions of Americans to give up the private care we want and force them onto public plans we don’t. Which, Americans are increasingly coming to understand, is the purpose behind everything Democrats are doing.
Support for Obamacare has now fallen to 42%, while opposition remains strong at 54%.
Which is why Democrats are having to figure out ways to avoid a filibuster even though that party holds a filibuster-proof majority.
Have you contacted your Representatives lately? Phone them first, then email them. We must keep the heat on them because the radical majority of that party intends to pass the bill one way or another. We must let their members know that doing so will cost them their jobs.

It’s that time of year again! October is here, the weather has turned crisp if not downright cold, the days are markedly shorter, and the grocery stores are already bursting with candy and pumpkins.
Fall has arrived and Halloween is almost upon us.
I love Halloween. Witches, goblins, ghosts and ghouls. Carving pumpkins, trick or treating on foggy nights. (Okay, I haven’t gone trick or treating in ages, but I do like to go all out on the house.) I’ve just never out-grown my love for the fun of Halloween.
And there have always been certain movies that to me are “Halloween movies” — not necessarily because they’re scary (Friday the 13th and Jaws are among the most popular horror movies ever, for example, but what do a killer fish at the beach and a madman at summer camp have to do with Halloween?) — but because they put you in mind of full moons, foggy nights, spooky stories and a crackling fire. Or because they conjure up rich visions of classic Halloween legends: werewolves, witches, vampires and assorted things that go bump in the night.
So what are your favorite fall and Halloween movies? Which films get you most anxious for All Hallows Eve? Click on comments and let us know!
Here are my favorite films to watch every October (in no particular order.) Scary, spooky, fearsome or funny — it’s an eclectic mix of genres — each one is guaranteed to be a ghoulishly good treat. (Click images for reviews and trailers.)

Contrary to what liberals will say, this FOX News poll, showing that only 43% of voters would vote to re-elect Obama, is actually middle of the road. This is also the first time the FOX poll has shown Obama with less than 50% approval. Other polls have had him at majority disapproval for some time now. (Rasmussen, for example, which has been the most accurate in terms of election results.)
Indeed, there doesn’t seem to be ANY area in which a majority of Americans think Obama is doing a good job:
Afghanistan: Approve 41 Disapprove 43
Iran: Approve 44 Disapprove 43
Economy: Approve 48 Disapprove 49
Health Care: Approve 42 Disapprove 50
Indeed, a majority of 54% disapprove of the health care plan now being rammed through congress, and 51% would prefer that we keep the health care system exactly as it is over the Democrat plans, while only 34% prefer the Democrats plan.
One thing majorities of ALL groups agree on is that Obama and the Democrats have divided America more than ever!
Finally, in a rare example of bipartisan agreement, majorities of Democrats, 53 percent, Republicans, 78 percent, and Independents, 61 percent, agree the country is more divided these days. All in all, 64 percent of Americans think the country is more politically divided today — that’s more than twice the number who say it is not more divided, 31 percent.
So the good news in these bleak, divisive, dark days for America, is that people are waking up to how monumentally bad these Democrats truly are.

At least according to the half-wit, Eugene Robinson, who claims Republicans who criticize Obama’s undeserved Nobel prize do so because they hate America.
The problem for Robinson is that nobody else thinks Obama deserves the prize either. Polls in the UK show most Brits agree that Obama did not deserve the award. Another poll shows Norwegians (the peace prize is awarded in Norway) agree. Indeed, reaction all across Europe has been fairly unanimous, and the world agrees with Republicans — they don’t think Obama deserved the award either!
So I guess the only conclusion we can reach, if we are to use the torturous contortions Eugene Robinson calls logic, is that Obama has increased world hatred of America!

Must-read from Forbes:
…Liberals pooh-pooh the idea that a 30-year-old law could have contributed to the current subprime crisis and credit crunch. But what they ignore is the massive expansion of CRA-commitments forced on banks in the run-up to the 2008 financial crisis.
According to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, in the first 20 years of the act, up to 1997, commitments totaled approximately $200 billion. But from 1997 to 2007, commitments exploded to more than $4.2 trillion. (Keep in mind this is more than four times the size of the current health bill being debated in Congress.) The burdens on individual banks can be enormous. Washington Mutual, for example, pledged $1 trillion in mortgages to those with credit histories that “fall outside typical credit, income or debt constraints,” and was awarded the 2003 CRA Community Impact Award for its Community Access program. Four years later it was taken over by the Office of Thrift Supervision. In 2004 Bank of America agreed to provide $750 billion in CRA loans to applicants with poor credit who had previous difficulty obtaining a mortgage. By 2008 Bank of America was reporting that CRA loans represented only 7% of its portfolio but 29% of its losses. Numerous large banks are now in the middle of enormous CRA commitments. In 2004 J.P. Morgan Chase agreed to provide $800 billion of such loans over the course of 10 years.
For all the talk of unsold condos in Miami and foreclosed McMansions in California, the epicenters of the mortgage crisis are inner-city urban areas–precisely those areas where the CRA was most applicable. As the Boston Federal Reserve put it in a massive 2008 study, “In the current housing crisis foreclosures are highly concentrated in [urban] minority neighborhoods.” The study found that borrowers in these areas were seven times more likely to be foreclosed on than the general population. Analysis by the Pew Research Center and another by The New York Times found that mortgage holders in these areas had foreclosure rates four times higher than the national average.
In short, the CRA is compelling banks to make trillions in loans to individuals who have poor credit and who often can’t or won’t make their payments.
Now comes Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, and 50 other co-sponsors (all Democrats) of H.R. 1479 the “Community Reinvestment Modernization Act of 2009,” who want to expand the CRA to include not just banks but also credit unions, insurance companies and mortgage lenders. Congressman Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, has supported the idea in the past. The SEIU and ACORN, along with a host of other activist groups, are also behind the effort. [read the whole thing here]

Free in every box!

Two years after awarding the “prize” to Al Gore for his propaganda film, the Nobel committee has awarded the once coveted waste of precious metal to a man whom even Saturday Night Live recognizes has done squat.
But before that mildly rebuking skit was even finished, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer had started work furiously “fact checking” the comedy sketch and, apparently, half a world away, the Nobel committee had decided their purported prestige was urgently needed to prop-up a prostrate presidency as well.
Seriously, what is the rush?
Why not wait until next year, the year after, or God forbid at least ’til the end of his term when Obama has actually (ostensibly) accomplished something…anything?!
Could it be that the SNL skit made them realize that Obama’s presidency is in desperate trouble of becoming a joke? With nothing under his belt but a skyrocketing deficit, climbing unemployment, and a deeply unpopular health care catastrophe, perhaps these leftist organizations are simply trying to resuscitate Obama’s failing presidency.
But their plan has backfired; rather than lifting up Obama with their unwarranted accolades, CNN and the Nobel Committee have simply made themselves into laughingstocks as well.
Update:
- Times of London: “Absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize“
- The joke heard round the world.
- The Deadline for nominations is February 1, so Obama was nominated after being in office only 11 days!
- Committee’s laughable decision was unanimous.
- Even White House aides thought they were being punked. One asked, “It’s not April 1, is it?“
- Telegraph: Obama’s won the Nobel Peace — WTF?!
- Der Spiegel: Obama’s Prize More Burden than Honor
