Harry Potter and the…

Harry Potter Great Hall Halloween

< Previous | Return to List | Next >

Ok, I’m cheating a bit — I’m combining all the Harry Potter films into one entry on the list of “The 20 Best Halloween Movies Ever.”

And coming none-too-soon to a theater near you:

  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

But come on! When it comes to movies that put you in the Halloween spirit, the Harry Potter films are far and away the Halloweeniest!

Witches, wizards, giants, ghosts, ghouls, werewolves, trolls, elves, gnomes, faeries, pixies, cats, bats, rats, spiders, snakes, potions, cauldrons, crystal balls, flying broomsticks, monstrous floating jack-o-lanterns, a poltergeist, a Forbidden Forest, and a school of sorcery in a magical castle called Hogwarts.

They’ve got a candy shoppe that trick-or-treaters can only visit in their most sugar-induced dreams, a Shreiking Shack, a magical menagerie — they even drink pumpkin juice for crying out loud!

When it comes to Halloween, the magical Harry Potter movies, based on JK Rowling’s even-better books, are the Gringott’s gold-standard.

Rated from PG for scary moments, some creature violence and mild language to PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images, the later movies are definately darker and scarier than the early films.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
