Night of the Living Dead (1968) is about as low budget as they come — and nearly as scary! The film, which almost couldn’t find a distributor, has gone on to become the seminal zombie flick, and one of the most influential horror movies of all time.
And yet the plot is so simple: The dead are reanimated and they need to consume living human flesh. A group of seven is barricaded inside a remote farmhouse trying to survive the onslaught of living dead.
You’ll definitely want to lock the doors and grab hold of the person next to you when you watch Night of the Living Dead — just make sure they have a pulse first. The film is unrated and unsuitable for children. Watch the original 1968 film, not the remakes, and watch it in the original black and white.
