If anyone “gets” Halloween, it’s Director Tim Burton. Sleepy Hollow is a stunningly beautiful visual tribute to the haunted holiday. The eerie legend comes to life in the misty moors and ominous wood of Sleepy Hollow, Upper New York. Johnny Depp delivers a masterful performance as a quirky, jerky, uncomfortable Constable Ichabod Crane, sent to lend his “expertise” in solving a rash of inexplicable beheadings.

Suspense, mystery, witchcraft, and a battle-axe-wielding, pumpkin-headed, reanimated, Hessian corpse. Rated R for graphic violence, gore, and a scene of sexuality, Tim Burton’s is the best telling of this famous Halloween legend yet put to film.
