Is Obama’s 20 Year Lapse in Judgement Finally Over? by American Elephant

Obama's Judgment

Well, unfortunately, no.

I was hopeful when I saw the headline, “Obama Quits Trinity United Church of Christ.”

I thought, Finally! after 20 years of sitting in the pews, listening to the hate, racism, anti-Americanism and antisemitism spewed by the Wrong Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Wrong Reverend Michael Pfleger and others β€” after 20 years of a congregation cheering the damnation of America, cheering as their pastors blamed America for everything from 9/11 to AIDS β€” that finally Barack Obama realized that he could no longer condone such hate and lies with his continued membership.

But, I was wrong.

Yes, he finally quit his church, but he made very clear it wasn’t because he was denouncing the church or their hate, anti-Americanism, racism or antisemitism, but to protect them…

“I’m not denouncing the church and I’m not interested in people who want me to denounce the church,” he said, adding that the new pastor at Trinity and “the church have been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them.”

And this is the man who claims it is his judgment that qualifies him to be President of the United States?

If you had good judgment, senator, you would have stood up and walked out of that church as soon as you had heard the kind of bile they preach and as soon as you had seen the congregation raucously applauding it. If you had good judgment, sir, you wouldn’t have been married by Reverend Wright, your children would not have been baptized by that racist, nor would you allow them anywhere near his hateful, dishonest teachings. If you had good judgment, Mr. Obama, Rev. Wright wouldn’t have been your “spiritual guide,” nor your mentor, and you certainly wouldn’t have made him a campaign adviser because you would have denounced him long ago.

If you had good judgment, sir, you would realize there is a great deal to denounce about Trinity United Church of Christ.

The truth is, senator, you have horrible judgment.

It’s not actually bad judgment for Obama to do exactly as he has done by not denouncing Trinity UCC. It’s been many decades since a Democrat won the Presidency on the strength of the White vote; I think Johnson was the last one to do so.

Obama needs to maintain his Black base while not pissing off too many Whites. This was potentially a way of doing that.

Welcome to politics, please wash your hands before returning to work πŸ˜‰

Attending the church for 20 years was terrible judgment. Refusing to denounce Reverend Wright was terrible judgment, which is why he later came out and denounced Reverend Wright. Refusing to denounce the church which continues to preach the same bile independent of Reverend Wright and whose congregants cheer the bile was terrible judgment, and it will all be used in the general campaign to destroy any claim to good judgment he thinks he has. That along with his voting record, his other bone headed moves and his policy proposals.

Welcome to George McGovern II.
