Obama Snubs Troops… Again by American Elephant

This time for bodysurfing, Batman and big bucks.

Last Month, Obama refused an invitation to a townhall meeting in Fort Hood Texas for 6,000 veterans, active service members and their families, citing a previously scheduled engagement. That townhall was last night, while Obama was vacationing in Hawaii.

Okay, everybody is entitled to a little down time. Problem is, he is willing to interrupt his vacation for a one million dollar fundraiser, just not for our troops. He refuses to see them when he is campaigning, he refuses to see them when he’s not campaigning.

Just how can a man claim to support the troops if he refuses to talk to them? More importantly, how is he qualified to lead them when he won’t even meet with them?

Well…Our troops aren’t exactly Obama’s constituency now are they? What exactly would Obama even say to such people?

Somehow I just don’t see Obama sincerely thanking our troops. He based a lot of early campaigning on how those troops would fail in Iraq. Their success – or perceived success if one prefers – didn’t do Obama any favors.

If a man will throw away a long time friend and mentor like Rev. Wright (Wrong) when that man hurts his campaign, that same man is unlikely to express any real gratitude to our servicemen and women who’ve hurt his campaign at least as much.

If you look at the two candidates’ voting records on veterans issues, I think you will see that Obama actually has done more for giving vets support than McCain. I think that most veterans would prefer to be given the respect they deserve through health care and other benefits over a lifetime, rather than listen to a speech.

You’re kidding right?

Those are not the two candidates voting records on veterans issues. That is how they voted on 6 Democrat bills or amendments.

John McCain, who, unlike Barack Obama, happens to BE a veteran, has been voting on veterans issues in the Senate since 1987, and in the House before that since 1982. He has a far better voting record on veterans issues than Barack Obama who in his incredibly short time in the seante has amassed the most liberal and the most partisan voting record in the entire senate.

John McCain voted against the Democrats bills/amendments because they were bad bills/amendments. For example, the GI Bill just passed by Democrats actually rewards service personel for leaving active duty.

Americans know that the content of the bills matters.

If Democrats think they are going to convince Americans that John McCain doesn’t care about veterans when he subjected himself to torture for his fellow servicemen by showing that he voted against bad Democrat bills, they really are far more stupid than I feared.

Kristie, learn to read before you try writing in public again. It just might save you a modicum of embarrassment and humiliation. 😉

One – I don;t support Obama’s candidacy and most comments here reflected that lack of support.

Two – I am one of those “someones from the military.” though I am now “medically retired” from service.

The sequence is supposed to work like this: read, comprehend, think, respond. Try it sometime. It’ll be good for you.
