Gallup: Twice as Many Americans Conservative as Liberal by American Elephant

Listening to the liberal mouthpiece media, you’d think the opposite were true; but according to Gallup, conservatives make up the largest ideological group in America, even larger than those who consider themselves moderates, and twice the number that identify as liberal.  Forty percent of Americans consider themselves “conservative” or “very conservative”, 35% call themselves “moderate”, and only 21%  identify as “liberal” or “very liberal”.

Liberals will point out that their numbers are higher than in the 1990’s, which is true, but it’s important to consider events in order to understand those numbers. When you do that, the graph above really supplies some eye-opening information.

First, liberalism is not popular in America.  Aside from the mere one-fifth or less of Americans who are willing to associate themselves with the ideology, this graph tells us that when liberals are in charge, implementing liberal policy, Americans suddenly realize they aren’t so liberal after all, and the country lurches right. It happened when they took control of the White House and both chambers of Congress  in 1993, and it is happening now. Seemingly to an even greater degree.

The same is not true, however, for conservatism. Notice the percentage of liberals stayed the same, the percentage of moderates decreased and the percent of conservatives increased when Republicans took control of congress in 1995. Likewise, while the number of liberals ticked up at the end of the Clinton presidency, when that president was being impeached, it remained relatively unchanged throughout the Bush presidency until 2006 when the situation in Iraq was at its worst. Notice also that the number of moderates dipped, and the number of conservatives rose to a high, just after the Iraq war began.

So what does that mean? It means the country lurches to the right when liberals run the show, but is generally comfortable with or even amiable to conservative policy.

It also shows that liberals are punching way above their weight, undoubtedly because of the inordinate influence of their mouthpiece, the mainstream media. But we know that already.

But what it means most immediately is that conservatives have all the momentum and Republicans should do very well in next years elections. At least as good as 2004, very possibly as good as 1994. If liberal identification ticks down another point, and I think it will, a Republican landslide is entirely possible.

BUT! and it’s a BIG BUT, Obama and the Democrats are very organized. They know that Americans haven’t let liberals hold all the levers of power for more than 2 years in a very long time, which is why everything they have done since taking power has been geared towards cementing their power permanently. They have taken trillions of your tax dollars and basically given it directly to unions, ACORN, and their other special interests. They seized the auto industry, slapped a big bow on it, and gave it to the United Auto Workers. The car dealerships they closed down were overwhelmingly Republican contributors, while all the dealerships owned by Democrats remain open.

The only jobs they have stimulated are union jobs, government jobs, and government union jobs. The private sector has shrunk drastically, while government has expanded exponentially. By design. Unions and government workers vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.

They found they can’t pass Card Check through congress, so they are working to implement it through the executive branch instead.

They have already slashed border enforcement, and will try to pass amnesty between now and the election — probably with some sly voter-registration mechanism as part of the deal. Obama is running the Census directly out of the White House, with ACORN doing the counting. And look for Democrats or the FCC to try to force “local control” of talk radio stations — which basically amounts to  the Fairness Doctrine by different means.

Obama’s original tax plans involved creating, for the first time, a majority of Americans who pay little or no income tax. I’m sure that is still the plan. He and liberal Democrats are pushing hard for a public health care plan to compete with the private sector because they know that the public plan will undermine the private industry and drive it out of business. That is their intent. (more on that later)

In other words, everything Democrats have done since seizing power, they have done because they knew Americans would not let them hold that power long, and they must work quickly to stack the deck in their favor.

Yes, the numbers have swung towards conservatives, and should favor Republicans next year, they could very well even favor a Republican landslide; but Democrats are doing everything in their power to make sure it doesn’t happen, and doesn’t matter if it does.

What it means for conservative Americans is that we must get involved and organize. If regular conservative Americans get involved in the election process. If we support candidates and volunteer with our time, effort and dollars, Republicans will win. If conservatives get involved NOW, and support strong conservative candidates to win in the primaries, it means conservative Republicans will win.
