The Wizards of Washington Are Hard at Work To Make Your Life Immeasurably Better. by The Elephant's Child

Probably many of you have seen videos of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner this weekend, appearing on George Stephanopolis’ program “This Week” on ABC, putting out a trial balloon carefully planned hint that they just might have to raise taxes on the middle class, to pay off their outrageous spending binge reduce the deficit so that the economy can start to grow again.  Press Secretary Robert Gibbs insisted that no, no it isn’t so, President Obama promised…

The federal budget — not all this extra stuff like bailing out car companies and banks — but the cost of running the government is up 11 percent this year.  The “stimulus” has accomplished nothing so far:  63 percent went to Medicaid, 13 percent to the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund, 6 percent to highways, 5 percent to other selected programs, and 12 percent to other programs not in the study — just in case you were wondering why a lot of jobs have not been created.  (GAO figures) The one part of the country where new jobs are plentiful?  Washington D.C.

Now that Congress is spending like the proverbial drunken sailors, news has come in that, um, tax revenues have seen the biggest single-year drop since the Great Depression. And the federal deficit balloons to an unbelievable $1.8 trillion, with $9 trillion coming.

Corporate income taxes are down 57 percent, individual tax receipts are down 22 percent from a year ago.  Social Security and Medicare taxes are sure to drop similarly.  It’s not a pretty picture.

Oddly enough, they claim that they are going to pay for all of this by the massive reductions in the cost of health care.  That is, they are going to pay for health insurance for that 45.7 percent of Americans who they call “uninsured”, and it’s going to cost less?  That must be some rationing that they plan for us.

How about canceling the rest of the “stimulus,” and not dumping more money into “cash for clunkers,” and canceling the insane Waxman-Markey climate bill for starters?  And then put off changing around the seventh part of the economy that is the health care that the majority of Americans like.  But wizards like to fix things, even if it’s all just an illusion.

Well, never mind.  The Great and Terrible Oz will fix things.  He has these pretty green spectacles that fasten on with two golden bands that pass around the  back of your head where they are locked together by a little key that is worn on a chain around the neck of the Guardian of the Gates.

If we can just find those red shoes…

I am 58 years young and I see a lot of misguided people due to the money allocated to dupe the soap box wanna bees. They jump on the band wagon that has the most and loudest speakers. They want to cheer lead the rich. They seem like they are right. After all I see their side on tv all of the time.
Study before you sing the Doctors, pill pushers and insurance companies and the rich song. You are being duped by money and an old game. The loudest is right! Right?

At least if you were a lobbyist you would be getting paid almost a million dollars a day. But you do it for free. Why?
By so many appearing to be against his plan Obama already has to give up some of what he is fighting for. “The majority of the people. You”
Wake up before you mess it all up. Be a Robin Hood if you want attention.
Do you want to be a cheerleader and get noticed guys? Then wear a dress. Everyone will then notice you. I personally like the intelligent ones that studied before making a judgment and portraying themselves as a champion.
We all stand to lose a Hugh opportunity. We lost it once when Clinton tried and lost. Don’t do it again.
Study first. It is very important.

Oh my, this is not a huge opportunity. The Democrats are not doing this because it is a good plan. They wouldn’t even consider giving up their own health care plan to participate in this mess they are trying to push onto us. They want control. If they can control your health care, then they control your vote. In order to give us “single-payer” government health care (and the “public option” is designed to replace our private insurance) they must drastically cut costs. The government cannot afford what they claim to offer. It would bankrupt the country. Because they cannot afford it, the only options are to give you less care, pay doctors less, pay hospitals less, pay nurses less. Great Britain is a splendid example of this. Fewer people go into medicine, and they have to import doctors from other countries in Asia and Africa where the training may be far less. Hospitals are dirty and infectious diseases caused by a lack of cleanliness are prevalent. Wait times for care are so long in Britain that people sit parked in ambulances, waiting hours to reach the emergency room.

America has the best health care system in the world. We have the best survival rates for the major diseases, and people from all over the world come here for care. We have some people who do not have health insurance. That does not mean that they don’t get medical care when they need it. Anyone gets care at an emergency room by law. Our problems are that much health insurance is supplied through employers and is thus not portable. That can be fixed.

80 percent of Americans are pleased with their health insurance. The majority like the system that we have. If you think Obama is going to give you “free” health care that will be better and cheaper than what we have now, you are living in fantasy land.

Looks like Atlas is indeed beginning to shrug.
