Techies Don’t Get Bored, They Have a Heck-of-a-Lot of Fun! by The Elephant's Child

“Early in 2010, the rock band OK Go enlisted the help of Syyn Labs — a self-described ‘group of creative engineers who twist together art and technology.’ The Synn Labs fraternity included (or ensnared) four staff members from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.”

NASA techies, in their spare time apparently make rock-n-roll videos.  OK Go requested a Rube Goldberg machine as the centerpiece of a video.  Wikipedia defines a Rube Goldberg machine as “a deliberately over-engineered machine that performs a very simple task in a very complex fashion, usually including a chain reaction.” Which is what these techies produced, and then some.

Be sure to watch to the very special end.  Amazing!  Bet you can’t watch just once.

Barack Obama: Is He “The Alien in the White House?” by The Elephant's Child

The most noted “must read” piece of the week is titled “The Alien in the White House,” and comes from Dorothy Rabinowitz, a national treasure found at the Wall Street Journal.  Many have struggled to understand just what our president intends.  He has seemed to me not to understand the office of the presidency, and Ms. Rabinowitz, gracefully, agrees that he is “wanting in certain qualities citizens have until now taken for granted in their presidents:”

For it was clear from the first that this president—single-minded, ever-visible, confident in his program for a reformed America saved from darkness by his arrival—was wanting in certain qualities citizens have until now taken for granted in their presidents. Namely, a tone and presence that said: This is the Americans’ leader, a man of them, for them, the nation’s voice and champion. Mr. Obama wasn’t lacking in concern about the oil spill. What he lacked was that voice—and for good reason. Those qualities to be expected in a president were never about rhetoric; Mr. Obama had proved himself a dab hand at that on the campaign trail. They were a matter of identification with the nation and to all that binds its people together in pride and allegiance. These are feelings held deep in American hearts, unvoiced mostly, but unmistakably there and not only on the Fourth of July.

A great part of America now understands that this president’s sense of identification lies elsewhere, and is in profound ways unlike theirs. He is hard put to sound convincingly like the leader of the nation, because he is, at heart and by instinct, the voice mainly of his ideological class. He is the alien in the White House, a matter having nothing to do with delusions about his birthplace cherished by the demented fringe.

It is an important article, for it clarifies the intent of the administration, and from whence that intent comes. You will find it interesting even if you disagree, for the debate is  useful for us all.  Do read the whole thing.

If you’re not familiar with Autotune the News, you should give them a listen; they’re pumping out some of the funniest political parody anywhere, lampooning the news, politicians and pundits alike with clever editing and some pretty mad musical skills. I love em. My personal favorite so far is Autotune # 6. (They seem to take particular pleasure in pounding on Katie Couric, which suits me just fine).

And perhaps the best unintended benefit of the vids, is that you’ll actually get a more accurate understanding of the news by watching these parodies than you will by following the MSM.

ACORN Admits It’s the Vote-Fraud Arm of the Democrat Party by American Elephant

And they’re still very much open for business:

The radical activist group ACORN “works” for the Democratic Party and deliberately promotes election fraud, ACORN employees told FBI investigators, according to an FBI document dump Wednesday.

The documents obtained by Judicial Watch, a watchdog group, are FBI investigators’ reports related to the 2007 investigation and arrest of eight St. Louis, Mo., workers from ACORN’s Project Vote affiliate for violation of election laws. All eight employees involved in the scandal later pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud.

Project Vote is ACORN’s voter registration arm. Project Vote continues to operate despite the reported dissolution of the national structure of ACORN.

The handwritten reports by FBI agents show that ACORN employees reported numerous irregularities in the nonprofit group’s business practices.

One employee told the FBI that ACORN headquarters is “wkg [working] for the Democratic Party.”

According to one report, an ACORN employee said the purpose of “[f]raudulent cards” was “[t]o cause confusion on election day to keep polls open longer,” “[t]o allow people who can’t vote to vote,” and “[t]o allow to vote multiple times. [Emphasis Mine. Read the whole thing]

And while the Democrat’s vote fraud operation continues unabated, the other arms of ACORN that were forced to disband are already opening their doors again under new names.

Naturally, the corrupt Attorney General, Eric Holder, still has no interest in investigating the vote-fraud arm of the Democrat party, and the shake-down artists who bear a great deal of responsibiligy for creating the very “toxic assets” that brought down the economy. The same group to which his boss, Obama has such long-standing ties.

I don’t trust Eric Holder to investigate this scandal, I think congress must appoint an independent investigator.
