Our Very Own Dino Rossi is Interviewed by National Review. by The Elephant's Child

Dino Rossi is a candidate for the Senate seat currently occupied by Patty Murray (D-WA).  He dropped in at National Review today to tell a little about himself.  He is an accomplished candidate, a successful businessman, and a very nice guy.  His expertise is badly needed to help to right a faltering economy.

Murray was elected to the Senate in the “Year of the Woman”, whatever that was, and ran as a “mom in tennis shoes.”  Her qualifications were, if I remember correctly, that she had been a teacher’s aide.  She is now, ahem, a member of the Democrat leadership in the Senate. She has voted consistently for everything the Democrats told her to vote for, and against whatever she was told to vote against. Ineffective doesn’t even begin to cover it.

American Elephant adds: You may remember that Dino won the Washington State gubernatorial election in 2004, not once, but twice, only to have Democrats steal the election from him on the third recount by “finding” unsecured, previously uncounted ballots in heavily Democrat-leaning King County. Later that year, ACORN workers were convicted of the biggest voter-registration fraud in state history.

(In case you don’t know, this is one of the most popular ways Democrats steal elections. ACORN workers, union thugs and other Democrat vermin register phony voters to bulk up the voter rolls, then the heaviest Democrat precincts “find” just enough ballots to put them over the top in the recount. It’s how Dino Rossi lost to Christine Gregoire, its how Maria Cantwell stole the election from Slate Gordon, and it’s how Al Franken narrowly stole the election from Norm Coleman in Minnesota…a tactic that is coming very soon to your state, like in 2010 and 2012, if it isn’t there already)

So we know that not only CAN Dino win, he already has. This time we just need to make sure he wins big enough that Democrats can’t steal the election.

This could be the story of my two cats — I love them dearly, but I don’t expect miracles.  Poor Timmy!

Six Laws That Sounded Great, And Why They Didn’t Work! by The Elephant's Child

I complain (and write) regularly about Congressional obliviousness when it comes to consequences, particularly — unintended consequences.  Democrats, I claim, just don’t bother to look at studies; nor the experience of those who have actually done the action which they are intending to write into law; they do not think it through, they just forge right ahead because they like their idea.  But actions always have consequences, and they are often just not what was intended.

Now the folks at Cracked.com have come up with a list of six laws that were great on paper (and insane everywhere else). They take on “Smoking Bans”, “Sex-Offender Laws”,  “The Endangered Species Act”,  and three more.

This is a terrific list, and demonstrates why big government so often bungles things.  How many regulations and laws have governed the Deepwater Horizon disaster?  And why did they bungle things so badly?  Or take a look at what you know about Obamacare, or the Stimulus Bill.  And what will happen when the laws of unintended consequences catch up with the Obama administration?

A Conversation With Dr. Richard Rubinstein. by The Elephant's Child

Roger Kimball quotes Barack Obama’s declaration to his followers, toward the end of October 2008, that he was only ” five days from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” A disturbing comment, and a clear declaration that his intent was to change America according to his own fancy, rather than to govern America according to the desires of the American people.

Dr. Richard L. Rubinstein, Yale fellow, “Distinguished Professor of the Year”, and Harvard PhD, states that President Obama’s intention is to “correct the historical mistake of the creation of the state of Israel.” Dr. Rubenstein states that president Obama, due to his family heritage, is extremely pro Muslim — to the point of “wanting to see the destruction of Israel.”

Obama, Dr. Rubinstein points out, is a “revolutionary” figure who is aiming to transform the “American political system and economic system” and America’s relationship to the rest of the world.

Woot! New Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Trailer! by American Elephant

The final book of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,  will be broken into two movies, the first hitting theaters next November, with the grand finale following that next summer. This trailer includes footage from both movies. How do I know that, you ask? Because I’m such an enormous Harry Potter fan/geek, that I instantly recognized most of the scenes in the trailer, and then went back over them, shot by shot, frame by frame to identify those that flashed by too quickly the first time, to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

But, no, before you ask, I do not own a wand, nor do I wear costumes to the movie openings.

In fact, while the movies are great fun, I always end up being a little disappointed because I am more a fan of the books, and the movies never quite measure up.

Nonetheless, the trailer looks awesome!  They always do. I can’t wait!

(If you click on the video, you can watch the trailer in high def on YouTube)
