Angry True Believers Vow to Take Bold Measures! by The Elephant's Child

John Abraham has panicked.  The true believers are pulling together a “Climate Rapid Response Team” from Minnesota to defend the “consensus” on global warming in the scientific community. The American Geophysical Union plans to announce that 700 climate scientists have agreed to speak out as experts on questions about global warming and the role of man-made air pollution.  (air-pollution?)  Rent-Seekers armed with hockey sticks?

“This group feels strongly that science and politics can’t be divorced and that we need to take bold measures to not only communicate science but also to aggressively engage the denialists and politicians who attack climate science and its scientists,” said Scott Mandia, professor of physical sciences at Suffolk County Community College in New York.

“We are taking the fight to them because we are … tired of taking the hits. The notion that truth will prevail is not working. The truth has been out there for the past two decades, and nothing has changed.”

The effort is a pushback against congressional conservatives who have vowed to kill regulations on greenhouse gas emissions.  They have threatened prominent researchers with investigations. (Like demanding that they show their evidence?)  Did I just post something about Democrats taking the election results hard, being angry?  Some of those indignant climate scientists like mechanical engineering professor Abraham are even prepared to go before what they consider potentially hostile audiences on conservative talk-radio and television shows. This has nothing to do with science and ever so much to do with propaganda to keep the funding coming.

Some are also pulling together a handbook on the human causes of climate change, which they plan to start sending to U.S. high schools as early as this fall. Gotta keep indoctrinating the kids.

In other news, the Chicago Climate Exchange, which was devised to  trade in carbon — which was intended make some investors very rich by trading carbon footprints — is quietly shutting down, dying, ending because nobody wants to buy permits to emit carbon.  Unreported in the media, apparently not interesting.

Yes, I’d seen that. Vile! Have you seen “the Story of Stuff?” And there are others. There are no limits to their attempts to indoctrinate kids, and I find it disgusting. It has had a really bad affect on many particularly sensitive children. The climate thing having failed, they are slowly moving to biodiversity (as failing) as the next big scare. You will notice an increased push now for all things green. Seattle Center is having a big eco/green/enviro/ celebration with all products green and /or natural for people and pets, and displays of ways to be even greener. There is enormous amounts of money involved in being green. When the Berlin Wall came down and Eastern Europe became free, the former Communists migrated to environmentalism as their next way to secure global governance. That’s why they call them watermelons–green on the outside but…

Thanks for the link, Ron. I’ll read the long piece shortly. I would caution, however, against using Wikipedia for anything environmental, including biographical information on scientists. See this post of mine — the guy who was in charge of environmental information has been excluded, but his compatriots remain. Accuracy has yet to be determined.

I had a piece, some time ago, that exposed how the greens planned to co-opt religion. They figured that they could go after the religious on the basis that God had made them stewards of the earth and the rest of the population was destroying it. I don’t remember where I found it and I must have thrown it away inadvertently. Sounds like your piece can clarify the origins.
