The Ukraine Crisis is Upsetting, so Obama Does What He Likes Best — Campaigning. by The Elephant's Child

President Obama, focused like a laser beam on the crisis in the Ukraine, hits the campaign trail to pitch an increase in the minimum wage. He will appear with four Democrat governors from New England on Wednesday in Connecticut to boost his uphill fight to get Congress to approve an increase in the federal minimum wage.

His 2015 budget proposal  will be released on Tuesday, calling for increased spending on manufacturing and early childhood education as well as hiking the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10, theoretically redistributing income, but mostly destroying more jobs — in this case an estimated 2,500,000 jobs. We already have 7.8 million people working part-time who want full time jobs. Raising the minimum wage will put a lot more on part-time (ObamaCare regulations) and fulfill only the president’s fantasy of redistributing income.

The Democrats aren’t going to be able to run on the economy this fall. They won’t be able to run on increasing employment opportunities, nor on foreign policy, but by golly, there’s always the minimum wage. That’s the only thing they have to campaign on. If employers don’t just say the hell with it and purchase robots, tablet menus, or automated check out machines, they can always move to a state where business is more welcome.

You can trust Obama to always inadvertently come up with another way to kill jobs.

“Inadvertently kill jobs”? If he didn’t kill jobs, if he didn’t guarantee a loss of self-respect, self-reliance, independence and make those losses simply a predicate to becoming utterly dependent on what native Americans used to refer to as Great White Father, he wouldn’t be able to control us. And Barry would find that situation completely intolerable.

The quest to understand why liberals are liberals is unending. How can they possibly think that? I’m inclined to think that it is inadvertent due to a complete ignorance of economics. Obama rejects the Keystone XL pipeline because there are only about 200 permanent jobs, and his environmental supporters trump that. The 30,000 construction jobs are temporary, and he simply doesn’t get the spin-off things. All is political, and the environmental bunch is very large and has lots of money. He has to save the world from global warming. Control of us is achieved simply because they are so much smarter than we are. Making us dependent is just natural, and not a conscious goal. Always great fun to try to figure out why on earth they do and think what they do. :>)

Tablet menus i would like to try that sometime.

One of the large restaurant chains has, I think, already gone to tablets, replacing a big chunk of their wait staff. I just can’t remember which one, but I may have read only that they intend to. Did you read about the hamburger making robot? Enter “Monumentum Machines” in the search function. I’ve written about them more than once. Liberals, never having worked in private enterprise, do not grasp what a small profit margin many businesses operate on. They assume that raising the minimum wage will just make mean employers pay deserving people better salaries — and simply don’t get it when machines replace people permanently. My Safeway has just installed several aisles of self-check out, as soon will be standard in the grocery business — eliminating all sorts of entry-level jobs, and astonishing lots of liberals.
