The chaos at the border continues. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been directed to no longer refer to illegal immigrant children crossing he border alone as “UACs” (unaccompanied alien children). Well, the language police have disposed of “illegal,” that’s judgmental or demeaning or something. Now “alien” has to go. They are to be referred to as “unaccompanied children” in official correspondence, according to an internal ICE email. Customs and Border Protection is still using “unaccompanied alien children” (ages 0-17 years old) as an official term as it counts the numbers it is apprehending at unprecedented levels along the southwest border. I hate the politically correct attempts to make a silk purse out of the proverbial sow’s ear. Apparently “immigrants” is out and “migrants” is in.
From October 1 to June 15, more than 52,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant minors have been detained. The majority of the minors are over 14 years old.
After they have been “processed” if they have an address or a phone number in this country, they are put on a bus for that address with the order to return in 15 days for a hearing. Less than 20 percent actually turn up for the hearing, and the address and phone number turn out to be phony. They simply add to the numbers of illegals in the country.
The White House is not planning to reassess its strategy for handling the thousands of illegal teenagers, kids and adults. according to press secretary Josh Earnest.
Texas Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) wrote to the president last month, asking him to visit and survey the areas where thousands of immigrant children had crossed into the U.S.
Earnest would not say whether Obama planned to visit the border during his trip to Texas for a fundraiser next week. The press secretary added:
Those individuals who are concerned about border security and concerned about the situation at the border, that the most important thing they could do is not offer public invitations, but actually to lend their public support to comprehensive immigration reform. Those people who are focused on border security understand that passing comprehensive immigration reform would allow for a historic investment in our borders. And that’s one of the many reasons the president has strongly advocated for Congress to make progress on that.
This is getting really tiresome. We have this influx of illegals because of the actions of this president. He has withdrawn border security, it is his “Dream Act” and his proclamations that if Congress wouldn’t pass it, he would implement it himself that brought this flood to the country. It is his ICE and Border Patrol who are being forced to put them on a bus and send them to a relative who doesn’t exist, and who will then blend into the population. The mothers with young children will be on welfare, for they have no money and no means of support, and will not be able to work.
Border Patrol officers have been re-directed from enforcement to processing, which creates “a very porous border where dangerous criminals and dangerous drugs are entering our country undetected and making their way into our communities,” according to Border Patrol agent Hector Garza.
Once Obama believes something, he is very dogmatic about it. He does not change his mind. While many presidents, confronted with such a precipitous drop in the polls, and such disapproval from the people, would reassess their policies. Obama does not reassess. He knows he is absolutely correct. It is mind-boggling at a time when there are such big problems erupting all over the world. The reason that Republicans will not pass immigration reform is because the American people know the president will not enforce it. He refuses to enforce the laws on the books.
There are currently 92,129,000 Americans of working age — not working and no longer looking for work. So we want to import more workers to take the available jobs? Most of the available jobs for the past years have gone to immigrants. We had a 288,000 job gain last month, but that is fewer jobs than the increase in the population of working age people. More Americans are stuck in part time work. Jobs are easier to find, but hours remain in short supply. Thank you ObamaCare.
The unemployment rate fell to 6.1%, but the unemployment rate for blacks is 10.7%. With Congress’ refusal to extend unemployment benefits, more people are finding jobs. People are not so apt to search for jobs if they are getting by on federal benefits. That’s a correct response to Obama’s consistent calls for longer and more generous benefits for staying unemployed. Sometimes we need a kick in the behind to go find a job.
