The sun is almost completely blank. The main driver of all weather and climate, the entity which occupies 99.86% of all of the mass in our solar system, the great ball of fire in the sky has gone quiet again during what is likely to be the weakest sunspot cycle in more than a century. The sun’s X-ray output has flatlined in recent days and NOAA forecasters estimate a scant 1% chance of strong flares in the next 24 hours. Not since cycle 14 peaked in February 1906 has there been a solar cycle with fewer sunspots. We are currently more than six years into Solar Cycle 24 and the current nearly blank sun may signal the end of the solar maximum phase. Solar cycle 24 began after an unusually deep solar minimum that lasted from 2007 to 2009 which included more spotless days on the sun compared to any minimum in almost a century.
It was only eight years ago this month, that the United Nations said we had just eight years to do something about global waring. If we didn’t act promptly, the planet would be in deep trouble. So here we are, no climate disaster, and none on the horizon. But the “experts” have been offering drastic deadlines ranging from hours to days to years, depending on their particular state of panic.
There has been no warming at all, none, for eighteen years and five months. Warmists call it a pause, which is just an evasion to avoid discussing this quiescent period. Unfortunately global warming has become not a matter of inquiry, but another method of increasing control over the population. Since the climate is controlled by the sun, there’s not much we could do about it anyway.
The warmists have been sure that the earth is warming because humans are using fossil fuels and emitting carbon dioxide, that stuff we exhale with very breath. But CO² is a natural fertilizer, and there is robust scientific proof that CO² emissions create surplus plant growth that in turn absorbs atmospheric carbon dioxide. The amount of CO² in the atmosphere has been much higher at times in the past. Global warming is cyclical, and it has been much warmer in the past and much colder as well. In the 1970s there was a panic about global cooling, and in the 30s, it was warming. There was a Little Ice Age in the 1800s, and the Medieval Warming was the finest climate known to man, when wine grapes grew in England and the Vikings settled in Greenland. The climate is always changing, but it isn’t affecting our health. It’s cold that matters. Cold can kill. A lot of lives may have been saved when the “snowbirds” from the Middle West move south in the winter months for a little golf.
The President can stop worrying about our health. The EPA doesn’t need to close more power plants. We don’t need a pact with China to reduce our CO² output, which wouldn’t do any good anyway.
