The President, The Resistance, The People by The Elephant's Child

From The American Spectator

It’s June and the crush of undocumented immigrants at the U.S. border with Mexico has hit a crisis point.

Government officials are housing migrants in tents and separating some children from their parents. Tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors attempt to cross the southern border; some 90,000 are expected to be apprehended by year’s end. A former top administration official defends the government’s policy: “We have to send a clear message. Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean your child gets to stay.”

The year was 2014. Barack Obama was president and the quote was uttered by Hillary Clinton, Obama’s secretary of state from 2009 to 2013 who also plainly stated that thousands of children “should be sent back” to their families.

‘The Resistance’ doesn’t seem to be creating a wedge between President Trump and the party.  It’s turning off Liberal supporters as well.
From Don Surber:

The Times approach to Trump supporters was laughably offensive. It reported, “In interviews across the country over the last few days, dozens of Trump voters, as well as pollsters and strategists, described something like a bonding experience with the president that happens each time Republicans have to answer a now-familiar question: ‘How can you possibly still support this man?'”

Buried in Paragraph 26 was the answer, from John Westling, 70, of Princeton, Minnesota, who said, “Let’s see. Economy booming, check. Unemployment down, check. Border security being addressed, check. Possible end to the Korean War that started when I was 3 years old, 68 years ago, check.”

Democrats fall in love. It’s the leader of “their team”— the savior who will bring them all good things. who will save them from the perils of life. It’s a romantic relationship. I have been in many Democrat homes where there is a picture of the (Democrat) President on the wall.

Republicans care about what the president does. They argue incessantly about what he does for the country, what Congress should do, whether what they have done will be effective. I have never been in a Republican home where there was a picture of the President (of either party) on the wall.

Mexico is Holding Presidential Elections on July 1, 2018 by The Elephant's Child

Andrés-Manuel-López-Obrador-

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, known as AMLO, is running for the third time, for the office of the presidency of Mexico. He announced last Tuesday that mass immigration to the United States is a “human right” for all North Americans. He is the former mayor of Mexico City, and is currently leading in the polls. He has run unsuccessfully two times previously.

“And soon, very soon—after the victory of our movement—we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world” Obrador added, saying  that immigrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.” He then declared migration “a human right we will defend,” according to eluniversal.com.

Tucker Carlson noted Thursday that Obrador had previously proposed granting amnesty to Mexican drug cartels. and added “America is now Mexico’s social safety net, and that’s a very good deal for the Mexican ruling class.”

Well. That is certainly an interesting proposal. Is that what the Mexican people want from their president? Is Mexico such a lousy place that everybody wants to move out? Mexico’s population is 21,493,000 and growing by 78% every year. Guatemala’s is 17,239,898. Honduras, 8,435,896. Nicaragua,6,261,822. Belize: 366,954. Costa Rica: 4,937,065, and Panama: 4,137,428. That adds up to something like 8 billion, 700 million people. I don’t think they all want to come to the United States, and I wouldn’t advise it.  We estimate that we can manage to accept 1 million new immigrants a year. Theoretically we have 11 million illegal immigrants currently, but they have been using the same number for years and years.

The “victory of our movement,”and “all the migrants in the world must leave their towns and find a life in the United States”? Is this just a reaction to Trump’s rejection of illegal Mexican immigrants? Certainly cutting back on illegal immigrants means less in the way of remittances for the Mexican government, that act as a safety valve. Do the Drug Cartels provide money to the Mexican government from drugs illegally pushed across the border?

Do the Mexican people think that our opposition to illegal immigrants is because we don’t like the Mexican people? Of course not. The Democrats try to insist that our opposition to illegal immigrants is racist because many Mexicans have brown skin? Silly.  I have always liked legal immigrants who want to become Americans and are willing to wait their turn. Citizenship Ceremonies usually make me cry. They add a lot to our country. But MS-13? Drug smugglers? Sex traffickers? If you want to come to the United States and become one of us—do it the right way. Please.
