American Elephants

Pelosi and Schumer, Terrorists and Drug Smugglers, the Border Patrol and President Trump by The Elephant's Child

Nancy Pelosi, upon being sworn in as the new Speaker of the House, has reiterated her refusal to give President Trump even one cent for his border wall. The wall, she announced, is an immorality.  The best approach “is comprehensive immigration reform, where we address the whole package of reforms.” Uh huh. She says:

We’ve been through this, secure our borders, legalize the people who are here so that they can participate fully, do so in a way that energizes America, which has always been the case with newcomers coming. And I emphasize that secure our borders. Because that’s a responsibility, to protect and defend our country. The president would not — the inference that you draw from the wall is that’s the only way to do that. That actually is an immorality.

Just 7 percent of Americans say that illegal immigration is “not a serious problem”, according to a wide-ranging Economist/YouGov survey. 2 percent of Republicans, 7 percent of Independents and even 12 percent of Democrats agreed that it isn’t  problem. 40 percent of Americans overall say that illegal immigration in the U.S. is  serious problem, 73 percent of Republicans, 38 percent of independents and 15 percent of Democrats agree. That’s some wide disparity!! 5 percent of Republicans and 42 percent of Democrats say it’s  minor problem.

“The fact is, a wall is an immorality!” Pelosi stated loudly. “It’s not who we are as a nation.” Well, it’s the law in the United States of America — or is there some part of the word ‘illegal’ that is too hard to understand?

Ms. Pelosi has a wall around her Pacific Heights home in one of San Francisco’s toniest neighborhoods. Mexico has a wall on their southern border, with guard posts, but the caravans from Honduras and Guatemala broke through. Walls work, if imperfectly, and they are not exactly uncommon. One third of the world’s nations have walls. Here you are getting into world government territory and French President Macron’s claim that “nationalism is treason” which set off the yellow vest riots (still continuing) all over France.

House Democratic Caucus Chairwoman Katherine Clark (D-Mass) (of course) told PJ Media that she hopes President Trump settles for building barriers that are not as high as “a giant wall” while helping to get “our” DREAMers the security they need and deserve. She added “The wall is a bad idea. We have better technology. We already have fencing and barriers but when we have Border Patrol agents that don’t even have cell phone service that’s where we should be investing our dollars, that sort of technology.” We have a major drug trade, with all the misery and death that entails. Cell phones?

Well, how simple. We should have thought of turning away several thousand violent young men who are throwing rocks and trying to kill our Border Patrol officers – by giving them all cell phones. Maybe someone could develop little drones that shoot off little bursts of tear gas. Technology will solve our problems.

I don’t know that many people are aware that a majority of our Hispanic citizens said of the so-called “Dreamers” – to send the kids back where they came from. It was an illegal ploy of the Obama administration.

Democrats want more illegals because they can be Democrat voters, and because we have an upcoming census next year that counts bodies, not citizens, to allot the number of representatives each state gets in the House of Representatives. Their determined search for complete control is not only ugly, but in complete opposition to the most elementary understanding of the nature of American government and American freedoms.

Our Southern border is approximately 2,000 miles long, extending from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. Border states are California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. It is the worlds most crossed border, with approximately 350 million crossings each year. Two rivers, the Rio Grande and the Colorado River, vast tracts of Sonoran Desert. It’s hard country. Some 800 miles may be too remote to need wall or fence.

Democrats continually conflate legal immigrants and illegal immigrants, claiming that we are “a nation of immigrants”, so you are supposed to favor illegal immigrants if your great granny escaped from communist Russia just before Stalin took over. We are a nation of citizens, and there are well over a million people who have applied, according to the law, to immigrate to the United States of America and are stuck on a very long wait list because the government believes that we can deal correctly with about a million new immigrants a year. The list is long and people can wait for years. So we get illegals instead, and H-1B foreign tech graduates who will work for less than our own high-tech grads. Go figure.

A lot of what is current is mixed up in this whole mess — irrational hatred of Trump, the battle over nationalism and one-worldism, the people’s desire to be free of attacks from Islamic fundamentalists, the fight to achieve complete control, the hatred of people who think differently from you, the urge to prevent words or thoughts you disagree with from being heard, diversity of thought rather than skin color, gender and how it relates to bathroom usage, the definition of ‘hate speech’, the need of snowflakes for safe spaces. You can add to the list as you choose. It ‘s all absolutely nuts. For a look at what the border is like, here you go.
