The Continually Growing Problem of Illegal Immigration by The Elephant's Child

We talk a lot about the border, and the potential wall. Some of the objections seem to attach to the “wall” word. Sounds mean, or unwelcoming. Not mean, but certainly unwelcoming, and justifiably so. I think most Americans welcome legal immigrants, it’s the illegal, the drugs, the crime, the dependence on welfare, and the gangs. The increasing numbers of innocent people killed by illegals because Democrats want open borders because illegals can be urged to vote is infuriating. But our immigration laws need some serious reform. As I understand the law, if an illegal can manage to set foot in the United States, they can, and do, appeal immediately for asylum, and thus they are here until they have their court hearing to see whether asylum will be granted. But once in the country, they may vanish, in spite of any requirement to appear.

The largest single group of asylum seekers ever to cross into the U.S. tunneled beneath the border wall near San Luis, Arizona, on Monday, voluntarily turning themselves into Customs and Border Protection, according to the agency.

Migrants can be seen marching toward Border Patrol agents by the hundreds, according to video obtained by ABC News. Smugglers dug a series of seven holes, only a few feet long beneath the steel border fence, with hundreds going beneath the wall and a smaller number clambering over it, according to CBP. …

The agency says 179 of the record 376 people who crossed were children, including over 30 unaccompanied minors — children under 18 traveling on their own.

Eighty percent of the apprehensions of those crossing the border with Mexico are currently parents with children. The majority of them, including the group tunneling in near Yuma, surrender immediately or seek out Border Patrol agents in order to begin the asylum process. CBP Yuma Border Sector Chief Anthony Porvaznik said his unit needs better barriers, but it more urgently needs funding to provide for families. Their number one challenge is the humanitarian problem.

Congress is the problem, while America is being invaded.

On Thursday,  Border Patrol Agents seized 700 lbs. of Cocaine, brought across the border in an area with no barrier.

And from Claudia Rosett: “The United Nations is trying to grab control of worldwide immigration policies.”

While President Donald Trump seeks funding for a border wall, the United Nations is seeking control of migration policies worldwide, with a campaign configured to undermine America’s sovereignty and control over its own borders. And, yes, if the U.N. has its way, America will help pay for it.

As with many of the U.N.’s turf grabs, this campaign to co-opt national migration policy has been years in the making. Incremental in its origins, and swaddled in U.N. jargon and procedure, it has largely escaped the U.S. headlines. But it’s now reached the stage of becoming dangerous.

The spearhead of this U.N. campaign is an international agreement with the high-minded name of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. That’s not remotely what this document boils down to. While proclaiming a utopian “unity of purpose” among the 193 highly diverse member states, this Global Compact would have the U.N.’s largely unaccountable, self-aggrandizing and often opaque bureaucracy, operating in service of its despot-infested collective of governments, set the terms for all.

Do read the whole thing.
