Not Intentionally anti-Semitic ? by The Elephant's Child

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi carefully announced today that Representative Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn) recent claim that her pro-Israel colleagues are motivated by  “dual loyalty” to the U.S . and Israel was not “intentionally anti-Semitic.”

Well, of course it was. Ilhan Omar is an observant Muslim. Her customary head covering is an indication, and the religion is deeply in opposition to Israel. That is not something new. It is very unlikely that she will change her beliefs. Might be a good idea to assign her to some other committee than Foreign Affairs where she will continue to do damage to the illusion that our good friends and allies in Israel will not  be continually offended by anti-Semitic remarks and votes in the U.S. Congress.

Democrats of the Jewish faith will continue to be offended. Maybe some will even choose to leave the party, one might hope. We could talk about beliefs and manners and prejudice, or not. Probably no one will change their minds about much of anything. We’ve just had an example of anti-Catholic prejudice in the case of a judiciary appointment. Freedom of Religion is a Constitutional guarantee. If you harbor deep prejudices, keep it to yourself or try to get over it, or just try to avoid situations where you will offend others. We re not much on prejudice here, though one would have a hard time pushing that idea in the face of all the daily cries of “racism.”

Poisonous Partisan Politics and Propaganda and the Border Crisis by The Elephant's Child

Illegal arrivals at our southern border are at a ten-year high, with no signs of abatement. U.S. authorities say the situation is completely unprecedented and nearing a full-blown crisis.

Democrats clearly want open borders: the Sanctuary cities, refusal to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), issuance of voter registration with drivers’ license applications, and the presence of illegals on most construction sites and waiting out front of Home Depot early in the morning for jobs, among other things, makes it fairly obvious that they oppose border walls and any effort to cut down on the cheap labor they find so useful. Their fight against any border wall, any barrier, and the constant lies about how cruel ICE and the Border Patrol are –”ripping little children from their mothers’ arms,” confirms their partisan political bias.

To the contrary, Border Patrol officers spend a lot of time trying to save lives, rescuing illegals from the rivers, too deep and swift, or stranded in the desert with no water or food, abandoned by smugglers.

The excuses multiply. Walls don’t work! A foolish statement. Why do our penitentaries have walls, why do most countries have walls, why do gardens and playgrounds have walls, why does your office have cubicles? Why do Democrats refuse to support legislation limiting the vote to citizens, and why do they resist any attempt to make voters prove their identity and residence.

According to CBP’s preliminry figures 76,325 illegal aliens were apprehended at the border in February – more than any month in over a decade. A record 40,325 family units arrived. It used to be that illegals were mostly young men who were processed and returned to Mexico within days. Now it is family units who ask for asylum. Now approximtely 25 percent of agents are pulled off the line daily to address the humanitarian crisis, acting as child care providers, and over 1,000 rescues so far this year. There are over 200 cases of mumps in one Texas Detention Center!

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says smugglers on the border with Mexico are using “recycling rings” – that is children are passed back across the border to allow other adults to pose as  family units to get entry. Little children are pawns. Family units who ask for asylum are held for 20 days, given a court date and released into the country, never to be seen again, the kids are passed back across the border to aid another asylum request. The “zero tolerance” policy on family separations has just made the sitution worse.

The “Green New Deal” is, Unfortunately, Quite Impossible by The Elephant's Child

One might think that before you attempt to Re-Organize the Whole Country on wisps and idle thoughts in your first weeks in Congress, you might have consulted someone, (anyone?) who knows something about energy, in order to keep from embarrassing yourself and all the other newbies who have decided to run for president, and just signed right on. You see, you do not know what you are talking about. Yes, this informative video comes from the energy industry, but who do you suppose knows enough about energy to explain the facts?

These are the first two videos in  a projected series of six videos explaining the realities of energy, from the  Clear Energy Alliance.  There’s a  lot more that we need to know, like the wonders and  usefulness of nuclear power. What about Fukushima? Don’t we have to worry about something like that? That’s why I recommend watching for the rest of the series to come.
