We have an interesting disconnect here. Illegal immigration is a major concern for the American people, according to polls. Democrats, uniformly, seem to believe in open borders, Sanctuary Cities and states, and seem to believe that AOC’s (always on camera) description of “concentration camps” for kids is quite accurate, or even if not accurate, — useful. They believe that ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is a terrorist organization and should be abolished. Democrats feature pictures of children in cages, left from the Obama administration as propaganda to show how awful the Border Patrol and anyone who dares to oppose illegal immigrants just flowing over the border is. This suggests that they believe the American people outside the hallowed halls of the nation’s capitol are so stupid they will believe any propaganda the Democrats choose to present.
On Tuesday, Mark Morgan, Acting Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) told a Senate Committee that 5,800 “fake families” have been discovered trying to enter the U.S. illegally this year.
“Our laws prevent us from holding people more than 20 days and because we can’t get the information we’re probably releasing them even sooner than that in many cases, correct?” Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) asked Morgan during a Senate Homeland Security hearing on the border crisis.
“With respect to family units, since March of this year, United States Border Patrol has been releasing family units directly so in some cases they’re being released in under 48 hours into the interior of the United States,” Morgan said.
Johnson replied, “Because it really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to try and find facilities to hold them for 20 days with this overwhelming flow so instead of border patrol turning them over to ICE for a more thorough vetting process and then ICE releasing them, border patrol is doing it directly?”
Democrats are anxious to make all things about the border an emotional affair, you are supposed to pity the poor children, care for the poor adults who just want to get into the country to make more money than they can make at home. Children are separated from their “parents” because the law does not allow children to be detained with their parents. They are required to be cared for separately, and they are well cared for.
The Border Patrol began testing DNA on April 30. They really don’t have time to determine if children are with their real parents or are victims of human trafficking.
AOC’s visit to the border and weeping photograph over an empty parking lot on the other side of the chain link fence, and her claims of “concentration camps” are meant to elicit pity and emotion. Congress needs to change some bad laws to help the Border Patrol deal with a monumental problem, but Democrats find the current situation much more useful.
ADDENDUM: Elizabeth Warren apparently claimed last night that there are “cages of babies” being held at the U.S.-Mexico border – despite there being no evidence whatsoever, no photos, no confirmation from others.
“What we can’t do is not live our values,” Warren said. “I’ve been down to the border, I have seen the mothers, I have seen the cages of babies. We must be a country that every day lives our values. And that means we cannot make it a crime when somebody comes here.”
While visiting a federal immigration facility in Los Fresnos, Texas, Warren spoke about adult border crossers being held in detention without the children they arrived with but did not mention seeing cages of babies.
They keep explaining and explaining that the law requires that children cannot be put in detention with their parents. They are place in non-detention facilities, treated well, taken to parks and entertained. If Democrats want children to remain with their (?) parents, they will have to change the law which they refuse to do. All pictures of children in cages are from the Obama administration, which did put them in cages.

Do you have the subtle feeling that everything is just slightly or majorly off? Conrad Black’s latest column begins: “nowhere is the collapse of the Democratic Party as a coherent political organization more evident than in the astounding metamorphosis of Robert Mueller.
Mueller looked the part: tall, slender, slab-faced, jut-jawed, and unsmiling, all business, and no soft bonhomous weakness for anything but a thorough plumbing of the depths of Trump’s unutterable hucksterism, skullduggery, and larceny. The commentariat, though well gone in the saddle after their long incumbency as the country’s political sages, dressed for the part again and took to the airwaves with the smug confidence of veterans and the zest of those addicted to tearing down administrations they found distasteful.
Black, for those of you who don’t know him, is a long time Canadian newspaper magnate, and member of the British House of Lords. Good mind, and I try not to miss his columns.
Perish the thought of any of this pusillanimous bourgeois rubbish about impartiality! Trump was an interloper and he had to be sent packing with such finality that no one would dare interrupt the self-enriching slumbers of the political class for at least another century.
John Hinderaker at Powerline blog, writes about the Democrats “inability to explain the booming Trump economy — as a problem the Democrats have yet to solve. Democrats always want to run as though it is 1932 and their mission is to end a depression, but that is hard to do when employment is at record highs, wages are rising, and in general the economy is perhaps the strongest in American history. For the most part, the Democrats’ strategy has been to change the subject.” That seems to capture the situation precisely.
Maxine Waters has been screeching about impeachment from the day Mr. Trump was elected. and many Hollywood luminaries follow suit. What is it they want to impeach him for? What are the high crimes and misdemeanors? Who knows. They simply hate him with a seething rage, because?
Media Post reports that the Democrats are readying a social media campaign intended to convince Americans that hard times are here again: What?
Priorities USA, the biggest Democratic Party super PAC, wants to publish stories on social media that highlight people’s economic struggles. …
The goal is to unseat President Trump by targeting voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida and Wisconsin that were critical to his 2016 victory. Priorities USA also will advertise in search results and create testimonial videos of people who feel left behind by the Trump economy, Politico reported.
So this is the way they intend to deal with the economy that is perhaps the strongest in American history? I wrote below about Big Tech’s efforts to control our elections, and Dr. Robert Epstein’s warnings. I am increasingly getting the feeling that there is a massive disconnect here. We are not speaking the same language. We do not share the same reality, nor the same beliefs. Running as if it is 1932 and the mission is to end a depression is not just a fanciful analogy.
Democrats believe firmly that Republican tax cuts go only to the rich and buy their votes. Poor people are helped with a big stimulus, or as FDR called it “pump-priming”. You raise taxes, especially on the rich, so you can do nice things for the poor and unfortunate. Doing nice things for the less fortunate proves that the givers are good people who care. Two economists at UCLA, Lee Ohanian and Harold Cole, established that FDR’s well-meaning efforts made the Great Depression about 7 years longer than it needed to be. That is not acceptable information for Democrats, they reject it utterly.
Many Republicans recognize the problem and have defined it as “Orange Man Bad,” but that makes it seem like just a joke, and they are quite deadly serious. Many have dropped out of the crusade after Robert Mueller’s ghastly performance, but not the majority. Hollywood denizens, still frothing at the mouth, continue to seek publicity every day to keep the crusade alive. In their world everyone who does not believe as they do is obviously a racist, homophobe, white supremacist and all around bad person. It is a serious battle, and we need to recognize what they are about. We have some very good people fighting for us — Jim Jordan, Devin Nunes, Ted Cruz, Dan Crenshaw, to mention only a few.
There’s an old Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times.” That may be about where we are.

Here is Marc Morano with the speech he gave at the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley — a liberty minded group in California that talks back to the Silicon Valley Left. Marc Morano is the proprietor of the Climate Depot website, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change, and a consistent voice of sanity in the troubled world that produces nonsense like “The Green New Deal,” which isn’t about the climate either, but just another attempt to destroy Capitalism. He has testified before Congress, made speeches all over the world, and made a movie about the climate as well.
It’s a fairly long speech, but worth every minute. It’s deeply important to understand the Climate Change Freakout, and what it is really about.

The Wall is going to be built. Those who are attempting to apply for asylum will have to apply in the first country they come to, not trek across several countries to get to the U.S. Border. And that is Guatemala. And Trump has made a deal with Guatemala. Would be immigrants from Central America who have not applied to Guatemala for amnesty can be shipped right back.
The biggest blow will be to the open borders Democrats. We know why they want open borders, but President Trump is on the right side with this one and today is a major positive step.

You have surely heard the hype that claims the Earth’s temperatures are the highest in 2,000 years, and we have the current heat waves to prove it. Not to worry, it’s just summer. Happens every year. (From Climate Depot:)
Reality Check:
‘More than 700 scientists from 400 institutions in 40 countries have contributed peer-reviewed papers providing evidence that the Medieval Warm Period was real, global, & warmer than the present.
2019: Antarctica was warmer one thousand years ago — and life was OK
2012 Peer-Reviewed Study: Climate was HOTTER in Roman, medieval times than now — UN IPCC has got it all wrong, say, scientists – Published in hefty climate journal Nature Climate Change, the cooling effect of orbital shifting on the climate has been up to four times as powerful as anthropogenic (human-caused) warming pressures.
AOC (Always On Camera) has been promoting the “Green New Deal” but her Chief of Staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, admitted that the whole motivation behind the Green New Deal was not about the climate, but to change the economy. Christiana Figueres, General Secretary of the UN’s IPCC admitted some time ago that global warming was their best chance to destroy capitalism permanently. The attacks are nothing new.
The earth has been warming and cooling for millions of years, and nothing in the present is out of the ordinary. We do, however, have these panics on a regular basis. It has been much warmer in the past, and much cooler as well. Here’s reason magazine and Ronald Bailey on the question.
Representative Tom McClintock (R-CA) said at the 13th International Conference on Climate Change on Thursday in Washington D.C. that he has just as much expertise as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and even Prince Charles when it comes to predicting the future of the planet.
McClintock said his prediction is based on a planet that has survived a changing climate for a very long time.
“I suppose I have as much authority as either of them to make predictions so I’ll give us another four and a half billion years, which is the amount of time the climate’s already been changing on the planet,” McClintock said to an appreciative crowd at the Heartland Institute’s convention featuring climate scientists and other experts who spent the day making the case against a manmade climate crisis.
McClintock, who is the ranking member on the House Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Water, Ocean and Wildlife, said that when the Democrats became the majority party in the 2018 midterm elections they were eager to showcase climate change.
And here’s a good piece from The Manhattan Contrarian. (good website)

Interesting hearings today. They didn’t go quite as the Democrats had planned. And the consensus seems to be that it was a disaster for them and may have ended their pursuit of impeachment. We’ll see. I don’t expect they will give up easily.
Have you noticed that nobody seems to mention the extent to which President Trump cooperated with the investigation? He gave them everything they asked for, access to staff, his lawyer, papers, answered questions and complied cooperatively with the whole effort, though he did call it a “witch hunt” from time to time.
Lawrence Tribe, Harvard Law School, Lefty, wrote that: “the effort to save democracy and the rule of law from this lawless president has been set back, not advanced.” That one startled me — “Save Democracy and the Rule of Law?” A little full of ourselves are we? I continued on browsing, and discovered the same quote at InstaPundit. 422 other people were disturbed enough by Tribe’s statement to want to comment on it, quite a few angrily, some scatologically and many just wanted to tell Mr.Tribe where he could take his opinions. Funny.

A very liberal professor warns that Google has manipulated voters, and can manipulate them far more in the 2020 election.
Dr, Robert Epstein explains what happened in the last election and the potential for Google to manipulate votes by manipulating search results. Scary.
When you need to search, use Duck Duck Go. They don’t track you.
Facebook has just been fined $5 billion, which is apparently the maximum the law allows, but is a drop in the proverbial bucket for Facebook which earned many more billions this last year.
Ted Cruz has been holding hearings on the misbehavior of Big Tech, and Congress is hearing plenty from their constituents. The monitoring of the citizenry in China is an alarming example of what is now possible, and what Big Tech knows about us is disturbing as well.
I don’t know that I have ever been aware before of business companies playing politics. not just in their advertising attempts, but actually getting into national politics. Apparently Conservatives are not welcome at Google, as James Damore showed us. And supposedly the rest of that bunch as well. One would think that they would know better, but apparently not. Write your congressperson if you are concerned. Congress does not as yet have a clear understanding of the public attitude nor understanding of what is going on.

It’s Sunday, so perhaps you have more time to watch a little longer intellectual discussion of capitalism and freedom from Thomas Sowell, brilliant as usual. A splendid commentary on the general conversation out there today.
Sowell discusses his early life as a high school dropout and his first full-time job as a Western Union messenger delivering telegrams. He admits to flirting with Marxism in his early twenties as he first tried to grapple with the housing inequality he saw across the neighborhoods of New York City. Marxism, he says, was the only explanation he could find at the time. He went on to serve in the Marine Corps before continuing his education in economics at Harvard and earning a master’s at Columbia and a PhD at the University of Chicago.
Sowell’s first job after his receiving his PhD in economics was working for the Department of Labor, and he says it was there that he realized Marxism was not the answer. He argues that the government has its own institutional interests in inequality that cannot be explained through Marxism. He began to be discouraged by Marxism and the government in general and began searching for better economic ideas and solutions (the free market).
Robinson and Sowell discuss Sowell’s written works, his ideas of racial and economic inequality, the state of the United States today, and much more.
