The news gets more interesting. The United States has had one death (as of this writing) from Corona virus Covid-19, here in Washington State in the suburb just to the north. It was a man in his 50s with underlying health conditions.

Tom Steyer has ended his campaign, as has Pete Buttigieg. Good! Steyer was spending all sorts of money and fully subscribed to Global Warming panic. Buttigieg was running on his success as a mayor of small South Bend, Indiana but the people of South Bend did not support his bid and he’s pretty radical. Elizabeth Warren hasn’t dropped out yet, but she is not doing well. South Carolina saved Joe Biden, and he’s back in the running.

Democrats are still trying to find a way to blame President Trump for the Corona virus, though Mr. Trump seems to have learned from Obama’s mistakes last time around, and is taking every action he can to protect the American people. The West Coast is, of course, on the Pacific Ocean, and thus more directly open to trade and travel from Asia. There are a number of cases of Corona virus in Mexican border states, and Democrats seem to think that not opening the border to them all is “racist,” rather than recognizing that each country is obligated to protect their own people. We have had large groups of Chinese illegals crossing the Southern border in the past, as well as ISIS and would-be immigrants from all over the world, not just Mexicans. Democrats want lots of illegals to be counted in the upcoming Census, which will give them lots more representation in Congress than they should otherwise have.

The State Department and CDC advise people not to travel to China or to South Korea, Iran or Italy, where the highest number of cases have been diagnosed. Travel warnings are changing, so checking before you go is essential. People who have no underlying health problems may experience the virus as similar to the flu or a cold, but for some, even the flu can be fatal.

The Elephant made a run to the grocery store late yesterday, and checkers were complaining about being exhausted because so many people seemed to be stocking up. That could become a problem if people get panicky.

The Wall Street Journal updates regularly, as does the CDC. Here, again is the website for the CDC.  Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said: “The risk is low. We need to get on with our normal lives.”

It is probably unfortunate that all this is coming in the middle of a presidential campaign. As I have mentioned, Democrats believe that they are entitled to be in charge because they are morally superior. That “trumps” a lot of ordinary scruples. Keep Calm and Carry On.
