You know about all those ships sitting out there off California ports, waiting to be unloaded. Somewhere in all the discussion about them. I learned that one of the main cargoes, was eggs!. I assumed that our eggs came from our local farm country, out there beyond the city borders. Apparently some of our eggs are shipped in from some other country, I don’t know where, but not from our very own poultry farms. I found that disturbing, I don’t exactly know why, but it is clearly further evidence of our dependence on other countries, and I don’t even know which ones. What nationality are my hens?
I had just run out of eggs, and was waiting for groceries to be delivered. In the wake of Covid, I’m having our groceries delivered rather than going to the store., which works fairly well, except for occasional strange arrivals like the giant carrots I mentioned previously. There are strange outages too. Things you would just normally find on the shelves of the store are suddenly unavailable.We have occasionally received stray products that someone else ordered, but mostly it has been O.K. This week the things that required refrigeration didn’t arrive, but I assume that to be the fault of the driver. But my life is changing without my consent, and I don’t like it.
How has all of this disrupted your lives? Quite a few members of my family are working from home rather than going into an office. but the assumption seems to be that as soon as this is all “over” life will return to normal. It doesn’t seem yet to have arrived at the point of disposing of offices and everybody working from home and telecommuting. I think we have not seen the long term results of all this. We are going to see some major changes in society and we are not ready for it at all.
How are you doing with the news? Are you satisfied with your usual news sources? I would be exceedingly pleased to see photographers more concerned with the people the news was really about and less with whoever is in a revealing bikini.. I do not wish to hear the deep thoughts of Hollywood personalities at all, though I understand that a movie person is “click-bait” Not for me. I don’t care about their houses, their divorces, or their love affairs. If they make a good movie, I might go see it i they act successfully enough to tell an enjoyable story.
I think all of our lives are changing in some inexplicable ways that we just don’t quite recognize yet, and I don’t like it at all.
