A poll conducted by Lawsuit.org (?) (have no idea who they are) claims that 2 in 3 young adults don’t know who America declared its independence from in 1776. No idea if the survey is accurate, but if it is, it’s shocking. On the other hand, you may have an excellent curriculum, good teachers, and facts that kids just attach no importance to, and don’t bother retaining. You might have fun testing this out with the “young adults” of your acquaintance. I don’t think we know much about how and when facts are absorbed, nor for that matter what importance they attach to what we consider to be important facts. I suppose we should be pleased if they know that we declared our independence from somebody or other and that’s what the July 4th holiday is all about. I wonder what today’s kids know about World War II of WWI, for that matter. Do they know anything about the Civil War? Currently have no little kids in the family.
Mitt Romney had a long screed in The Atlantic about America being in Denial. He has apparently bought into the non-existent “climate crisis”. The climate of the Earth is controlled by the action of our sun, and our sun is just fine. Plenty out there to worry about, the climate is not one of them. The “panic” has largely arisen because of Klaus Fuchs Davos meetings and push to control world government. Beware that as well.
Christiana Figueres, who was the general secretary of the Davos meetings, admitted to a news conference that their long term object was to rid the world of Capitalism. I don’t know about you, but I’m rather fond of Capitalism. Strange world out there.
