President Biden Wants to Push Electric Car Sales to Ten Times Current Levels. by The Elephant's Child

President Biden, familiar with his own local area, is apparently very unfamiliar with the rest of the United States. A good part of the United States is very rural, and potential ‘charging stations’ not developed, nor affordable for rural gas stations. Here in a Seattle suburb, the only electric charging station I have ever seen is in the main shopping center garage and almost totally unused. So unused that somebody’s usually just parked there. Ten times “current levels” probably wouldn’t even reach 100. Nobody wants an electric car. Our very small local town was 9 miles away, where there were 2 actual gas stations. Most ranchers had their own good-sized gas tanks, so they didn’t have to depend on a distant town. A goodly part of Americas is, as I said, very rural. Folks in cities forget that. Long distances between towns. What sounds efficient and a “good idea” just is not!

Aside from that, I don’t think anybody is interested in having an “electric car”. What do you do out in rural America, Go up to the nearest farmer’s house and ask if you can plug into his power line? People who live in crowded Eastern cities are way too unfamiliar with more rural America. There are often long distances between towns that might have an actual gas station. At home in Idaho, we had our own good sized gas station and pump. We were 9 miles from the nearest town. Got it filled up once or twice a year. Most ranchers had their own big gas tanks, so they didn’t have to depend on going to the nearest town. The “city slickers” in Washington D.C. are way too unfamiliar with the rest of the country.
