The fix is in by American Elephant

A new report shows that one out of every four overseas military ballots goes uncounted:

It said that of 441,000 absentee ballots requested by eligible voters living abroad – mainly active-duty and reserve troops – more than 98,000 were “lost” ballots that were mailed out but never received by election officials. Taking into account 13,500 ballots that were rejected for such reasons as a missing signature or failure to notarize, one-quarter of those requesting a ballot were disenfranchised.

The study found that an additional 11,000 ballots were returned as undeliverable. [more]

But never fear! The same Democrats that regularly work to prevent military ballots from being counted are all over it!

Sen. Charles Schumer, chairman of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, said the study, while providing only a snapshot of voting patterns, “is enough to show that the balloting process for service members is clearly in need of an overhaul.”

By this time next year, with hard work, the Schmuckster hopes Democrats can disenfranchise at least 85% of all military ballots!

Lord help us!

Chuck Schumer ADVOCATED Torture by American Elephant

Yes, that’s right boys and girls — it’s another episode of Democrats were for it before they were against it. And yes, they were for torture.

Not only did Nancy Pelosi know about and approve the use of water-boarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques, top Democrat Chuck Schumer of New York is on the record, in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing no less, defending the use of real torture on tape — not water-boarding, not enhanced interrogation, but actual torture:

Ahhh, but that was before Democrats saw an opportunity to actively undermine national security for partisan gain.

Now, these very same Democrats want to prosecute Bush Administration lawyers for merely giving their legal opinions that water-boarding does not constitute torture and is therefore permissible. Let me emphasize that — they are not talking about prosecuting people who water-boarded, they want to prosecute people for expressing an opinion.

And yes, the same Chuck Schumer is among those calling for investigating Bush officials for prosecution:

I don’t know what more evidence anyone could possibly require to prove that Democrats have knowingly, actively undermined national security for partisan gain. We have top Democrats not only approving enhanced interrogation, but advocating for the necessity of actual torture, and we have them on the record, actively trying to undermine those tactics they admit are necessary for the defense of the nation. For years they have been dragging the United States through the mud for all the world, and all our enemies to see, for using tactics they themselves admit are necessary.

It’s time for prosecutions all right — but not prosecutions of President Bush and his administration for their legal protection of the country — it’s time to prosecute Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer and other Democrats for their open, blatant treason against the United States of America for partisan political gain.

Feds Blame Schumer for Indymac Failure by American Elephant

Rick Moran at American Thinker has the story:

This may be a first in the history of the United States Senate. Federal regulators have cited New York Senator Charles Schumer as the proximate cause for the run on mortgage giant Indymac’s deposits. That run caused the feds to take over the ailing institution to guarantee its remaining deposits. [read more]

Will there be any accountability?

The Wall Street Journal has more on Schumer’s connection to the bank’s failure.

Democrats on the Economy — Then and Now by American Elephant

Chuck Schumer, Slimeball, Liar, Democrat

Just another example of how completely full of “it” the Democrat party really is via David Freddoso:

Democrats on the Economy in 1996:

“Our economy is the healthiest it has been in three decades.”

~ Bill Clinton (State of the Union Address, January 23, 1996)

Democrats on the Economy in 2008:

“The bottom line is that this administration is the owner of the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.”

~ Senator Charles Schumer (Press Release, March 7, 2008)

The problem, as Freddoso points out, every single key labor market statistic is better now than they were prior to the 1996 election when Democrats were praising the economy as the best in 30 years:

Key Labor Market Statistics in 1996 and 2008

March 1996 March 2008
1. U.S. Unemployment Rate 5.5% 5.1%
2. Number of Long-Term Unemployed 1.33 million 1.28 million
3. Average Weeks Unemployed 17.3 weeks 16.2 weeks
4. Median Weeks Unemployed 8.3 weeks 8.1 weeks
5. Not in Labor Force because discouraged over job prospects 451,000 401,000
6. Democrats calling for Extended Unemployment Benefits? No Yes
7. President’s Party Affiliation Democrat Republican

If Bush lied, then so did… by American Elephant

Chuck Schumer

So, guess who has really been lying about war and national security for political gain? I’ll give you a hint, they aren’t Republicans…
