Murkowsky-appointed Judge Orders Joe Miller’s private documents made public by American Elephant

Contrary to this corrupt judge’s ruling (a judge appointed by Lisa’s daddy), public officials do NOT give up their right to privacy. This is the reason we still don’t have Barack Obama’s birth certificate, college transcripts, or full medical records. (birds of a feather: Obama only won his senate seat by getting corrupt Chicago judges to unseal the divorce records of his opponents).

This is politics at it’s dirtiest.

Clearly Sarah Palin did not finish her good work cleaning up corruption in Alaska:

“I hold that although Mr. Miller has a legitimate expectation of privacy in those documents, Mr. Miller’s right to privacy is indeed outweighed by the public’s significant interest in the background of a public figure who is running for the U.S. Senate,” the judge said. He noted that U.S. senator is among the highest elected offices in the nation.

Burbank ordered that nothing actually will be released until Tuesday afternoon, however, to allow for the ruling to be appealed to the Alaska Supreme Court.

The judge said that about 30 of the documents being sought would not be released. Twice that number would be redacted. The case was brought by a group of Alaska news media organizations, which have been trying since summer to see borough documents concerning Miller’s employment as a part-time borough attorney.

Yet more proof that Lisa Murky is exactly the type of corrupt, sleazy, power-hungry scoundrel  that Americans need to RID congress of. If you are an Alaska voter, PLEASE clean up your state and do whatever you have to do to vote for Joe Miller. I don’t care if you have to hike 50 miles uphill in the snow to get to the polls — VOTE! This sleazeball must be kicked out of congress!

And no matter where you live, you can contribute to and volunteer for the Joe Miller campaign here. (An added bonus for contributing to the Miller campaign, is that Alaska is a small market, and your dollars will go much further than they would in most of the lower 48, so every dollar really does count.)

If by chance you give the maximum donation to Miller’s campaign, other groups you can also contribute to that are working to elect Joe Miller are the Club for Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund.

WARNING! Democrat Politicians Now Physically Assaulting Constituents! by American Elephant

Looks like Democrats are now eliminating their usual Union Thug middlemen and just beating up constituents directly:

That’s Democrat representative Bob Etheridge from North Carolina. (“Mainstream” news reports will conveniently forget his party.) I hope he wasn’t planning on being re-elected, indeed, I hope he wasn’t planning on finishing his term or even returning home. He needs to serve time.

And you had better believe that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats need to be held accountable for creating the environment where such a thing could happen in America. This is where Democrats have lead the country. Where gangs of union thugs storm private homes with terrified children inside, where union thugs beat up a black man selling “Don’t tread on me” flags and put him in the hospital. Where President KickAss talks about “bringing guns”, “getting in their faces”, “hitting back twice as hard” and “kicking ass”.

Keep in mind, Democrats are not some aggrieved minority — they control ALL the levers of power. They have virtually a filibuster proof majority, yet their agenda is SO extremist, so radical that they STILL can’t get it passed without resorting to violence and intimidation.

You know when their crimes are bubbling over into public view, that there are many more crimes happening where the public can’t see.

Welcome to the Thugocracy.

Do not question Obama. He doesn’t like that. by The Elephant's Child

Now that Obama has “distanced” himself from his radical friends at ACORN, saying that , oh yes, he did some pro-bono legal work for them way back thirteen years ago, it is a little awkward when so many reputable sources explain his long and close association with the group.

Confronted with accusations of wrong doing, Obama is playing pure Chicago politics.  He has called for a “Special Prosecutor” in the ACORN investigation. Bob Bauer, the Obama campaign’s general counsel said on Friday:

What they’re actually about is the unprecedented effort to essentially sap the American people of confidence in the voting process.

Well, yes, when election officials announce that they have more people on their voting rolls than they have people of voting age in six Alabama counties, or municipal clerks across the state of Michigan report fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from ACORN workers.  In Wisconsin, ACORN hired as voter registration workers at least seven felons convicted of crimes including cocaine possession and robbery, who are not allowed to serve as registration workers.  In Indiana, Lake County officials have had to reject a large portion of 5,000 registration forms turned in by ACORN bearing the names of dead and underage people.  In Connecticut, 8,500 dead people remained registered to vote, and at least 300 seem to have voted since they died. The FBI has raided ACORN offices in Las Vegas.

The actions of ACORN are inclined to sap the American people of confidence in the voting process.  But that is not what Obama is on about.  He demands that the Department of Justice stop the ACORN probe.  (That probably would be convenient for Obama)

He wants Special Prosecutor Dannehy, who is investigating the bogus, politically motivated claim that there was something improper in firing U.S. Attorneys who serve at the pleasure of the President, to tack on to that a:

review of any involvement by Justice Department and White House officials in supporting the McCain-Palin campaign and the Republican National Committees…systematic development and dissemination of unsupported, spurious allegations of vote fraud.  It is highly likely that the very sort of politically motivated conduct identified in the Department’s investigation to date, necessitating the appointment of a Special Proseutor, is repeating itself, and for the same reason: unwarranted and politically motivated intervention in the upcoming election.  An investigation must be entrusted to government officials who do not have an improper political motivation or a conflict of interest, either in fact or appearance.

What that takes is an immense amount of pure gall.

Obama’s letter to the Justice Department is available here. The McCain campaign response is also available from their website.  I love the line about “In case Sen. Obama’s lawyer did not notice, we are in the midst of a political campaign, not a coronation, and the alleged criminal activity he calls ‘recent partisan Republican activities’ are what the rest of us call campaign speeches and debates.”

Obama does not like to be criticized, or to have his questionable associations pointed out.  He prefers to remain a man of mystery, available only to inspire his worshipers.  Attempts to criminalize those who criticize shows either a very poor understanding of the law by someone who has lectured on the constitution, or an unpleasant streak of arrogance.

Some reminders are in order. by The Elephant's Child

This is an uncomfortable week, waiting, as it were, for the other shoe to drop.  I know how we got here, but I have no insight whatsoever into how we will get out.  It’s above my pay-grade, as someone said recently.  I have read too many columns by too many economists who don’t agree with each other.

The fox is in charge of the henhouse; or rather Barney Frank is in charge of the committee to solve the problem that he was most prominent in creating. Of course he blames it on Phil Gramm. Huh? And of course, President Bush, that’s a given.  Everything is Bush’s fault.

Phil Gramm’s Gramm-Leach-Bliley act which “deregulated” Glass-Stegall is explained well, and briefly by Megan McArdle in the Atlantic.

Obviously, when the mess is so big, everyone is looking for a scapegoat, in the absence of knowing just the right thing to do about it. It is, of course, much more complicated than just helping poor minorities to become homeowners.  That is a worthy aim.

Businesses develop guidelines for success in their operations.  Congressmen have found that they enjoy greater success at the ballot box if they give people stuff.  Hence all sorts of mischief.

Congress has gotten itself into the habit of thinking it can tell business how to conduct its operations.  You have given oil companies a lease on public land in exchange for vast sums, and they haven’t brought in any oil wells yet — just order them to produce oil, now.  Car mileage isn’t high enough (since most customers want higher gas mileage, obviously car companies aren’t paying attention) congress will just order them to increase mpg now.  Few members of congress have ever successfully run a business, yet they assume expertise that they do not possess, issue orders in the form of legislation and create problems.

I’m afraid we need to remind our representatives more often that they are not some sort of elite, but our servants.  They work for us.  And they need to remember that.

Obama embarrases himself again. by The Elephant's Child

Barack Obama has a new commercial out, making fun of John McCain because he does not use a computer or a cell phone, trying to imply that McCain is old and behind the times.  Things have changed since 1982 when John McCain first came to Congress, the ad says, accompanied by images of a Commodore computer and other icons from the 80s.

Obama blew it again.  Embarrassing.  John McCain cannot use a keyboard because of the injuries he received in the Hanoi Hilton.  That has been known for years.  A little fact-checking would be in order.  Almost like Joe Biden asking a gentleman confined to a wheelchair to stand up.  Not cool.

A Boston Globe story from March 2000 says:

McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes….
After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee.  It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excurciatingly painful.
“He endured it, he wouldn’t settle for less,” said Lawrence, who rejoiced with McCain when he passed the Navy physical.  “I have never seen such toughness and resolve.”

A simple Google News search using the terms “john mccain keyboard” turn up a Forbes article from May 2000 that turns up on the first page of results:

In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate.  Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, CindyThe injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type.  Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.

The Obama crew apparently not only could not get their story straight, they made Obama look like a jerk for picking on McCain about his injuries, reminded the public of who is a hero, and exposed the simple technological idiocy of not even checking their stories on Google.
Hat tip to Suitably Flip.

Obama Plays Sleazy Politics — Then Lies About It (Again) by American Elephant

For a man who so frequently claims he wants to rise above dirty politics, Barack Obama sure peddles an awful lot of sleaze and tells an awful lot of lies. For all his lofty rhetoric, it turns out he’s nothing more than a typical Chicago-style dirty, sleazy politician.

Obama’s sleaze du jour:

Yesterday in Missouri, Obama predicted McCain and the GOP would use racially-tinged attacks against him.

“What they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me,” Obama said. “You know, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”

An Obama spokesman denied that the line about “dollar bills” was related to the Democrat’s race.

Nor, is the first time he’s played the race card, and claimed “racist” Republicans were going to try to make people afraid of him because he is black. Of course, without any evidence whatsoever. Here he is from last month:

“We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid.

“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?

But do any of the lemmings in his audience stop and ask for evidence of any racist attacks from Republicans? Of course not, they are brainwashed beyond repair. Indeed, the Obama camp has the audacity to lie, and say Obama was never referring to race:

“Barack Obama in no way believes that the McCain campaign is using race as an issue, but he does believe they’re using the same old low-road politics to distract voters from the real issues in this campaign, and those are the issues he’ll continue to talk about.”

Talk about projection!

The same way Obama said he couldn’t visit the troops in Germany because he didn’t think it was appropriate on a campaign trip, when the real reason is because the press wouldnt have been allowed to photograph him visiting the troops. And the same way he broke his promise to use public financing for his campaign and then blamed it on Republicans.

Its becoming quite clear that Obama is a compulsive liar.

Hot Air has the video and the latest pathetic lies from the Obama camp here.

And of course Obama and the Democrat party’s entire existence is based in creating fear… Republicans want to take away your social security! Republicans want to destroy the environment! Republicans are racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic bigots! Republicans are warmongers! Republicans want to reinstate the draft! Republicans want to deny veterans benefits! Republicans want to take your money and give it to the rich! If you don’t vote for Democrats the seas will rise, the Earth will boil, all the animals will die, and probably all the people too! and on and on and on… none of which has any basis in reality whatsoever, yet they pump out the propaganda like nobody’s business.

And when Republicans actually talk about real dangers, like, say, terrorists flying planes into buildings, Iran getting the nuclear bomb they are working tirelessly for, or increased taxation harming the economy as it always does, Obama and the Democrats have the gall to accuse Republicans of “playing on your fears.”

Perhaps so. I suppose all politics is based in fear to some degree —  but unlike Democrats, Mr. Chicagobama, Republicans address fears that are based in reality.
