A study from Vanderbilt University found that an ad from Mitt Romney criticizing President Obama over a super-PAC ad that insinuated that Mr. Romney was responsible for Joe Soptic losing his job two years after Mr. Romney left Bain Capital, and that he was somehow responsible for Joe’s wife’s death from cancer 6 years later, was resonating with swing voters. It was moving “pure independents” who were undecided some 6 percentage points in Romney’s favor. The researchers said this was the first ad that really resonated with true swing voters.
The president is ignoring advice, and insisting that it’s going to be good. “The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, “Well the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.”
The Democrat Convention will apparently be an ode to abortion rights, a celebration of a “War on Women,” an insistence on support for Planned Parenthood, in the belief that this will appeal to all mainstream voters. Sources generally attribute the remarkably dirty campaign to David Axlerod, but Barack Obama is known to be a “fierce competitor.”
We’ll see. I think the American people can recognize straightforward honesty.
