The Washington State Ballot Makes National News, for some Surprisingly Dumb Issues by The Elephant's Child

vennwastate

Washington State voters have just received their ballots and the Voter’s Guide. It tells you something when we have already made the national news. The above Venn Diagram comes from economist Mark Perry, writing at AEI.

Over at the Wall Street Journal, we got a full article on “The SEIU’s Ballot Fraud:  The union tries to hoodwink voters into protecting its dues.”

That’s the story in Washington state, where the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is funding a ballot measure that advertises itself as the Seniors and Vulnerable Individuals’ Safety and Financial Crimes Prevention Act. What the ballot measure would really do is prevent home-care workers from being informed that they have the right to opt out of the union.

In Harris v. Quinn in 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that home-care workers have a First Amendment right not to pay fees to a union they don’t wish to join. In Washington state the ruling was taken up by the Freedom Foundation, which sought to inform the members of two unions representing child-care and home health-care workers that they could opt out. …

Under the ballot measure, the Freedom Foundation or other outsiders would be blocked from obtaining the list of union members’ names. The unions know that when workers know they have a right not to pay union dues, they often don’t. According to the Freedom Foundation, of the roughly 7,000 unionized child-care providers notified by the Freedom Foundation, well over 60% have dropped their union membership.

National Review targeted the same ballot measure.

In Washington State, Unions Advance a Ballot Measure to Keep Members in the Dark.” It is disguised as a measure to protect the elderly from abuse but is simply an aggressive effort to keep home care providers from knowing that they don’t have to belong to the union, nor do they have to pay union dues.

Also on the ballot, but unaddressed at the national level is a state attempt to invalidate the (much hated by the Left) Supreme Court’s Citizen’s United decision, the aforementioned minimum wage issue,  a gun bill that attempts to remove guns from the mentally ill or depressed in an ineffective suicide prevention idea. And to top it all off, there’s an attempt to pass a carbon tax that would accomplish nothing, nothing at all, except an increase in taxes.

The Wall Street Journal also points out that “State government revenues have swelled 30% in the last five  years. That’s a bigger raise than most workers have received, but public unions and their friends are asking voters for more at the ballot box on November eighth.

So they are, and we should not give them a cent.

Fundamentally Changing Who Can Vote In America by The Elephant's Child

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is joining with several Latino organizations who advocate for illegal Latino immigrants, and activist House Democrat Luis Gutierrez , D-Ill., to get as many of the 5 million Latino residents naturalized and registered to vote  as possible before Election Day in November.

Gutierrez, long a radical socialist, is capitalizing on the anti-immigrant rhetoric from Republican presidential candidates. He wants them to get angry, particularly over the remarks of real estate mogul Donald Trump. SEIU’s campaign slogan is “Naturalize. Register. Vote.”

Gutierrez expects to travel across the country to attend as many of the nearly 100 naturalization seminars with iAmerica Action, Latino Victory Foundation, Mi Famila Vota, National Partnership for New Americans, and the SEIU. He’ll be starting Gutierrezin his hometown of Chicago and plans speeches in states with significant Latino populations like Colorado, Florida and Nevada. He’s hoping to turn 5 million Latino immigrants into voters by getting them to “stand up to hate.”

That’s an effective rabble-rousing message, but the republican message is not “hate,” but anger at the administration over executive actions that set aside the laws of the United States, order Border Patrol to stand down, ignore the millions of legal immigrants waiting in line — in favor of those who cross the border illegally and demand public services to which they are not entitled, and whose nationality and loyalties cannot be determined. But Trump’s rhetoric is ripe for twisting.

The groups cannot make the naturalization process any faster, but the campaign is aimed at making sure that those who are legal permanent residents trade in their green cards for citizenship. According to some sources, many Latin American immigrants simply want to work here and send money back home, but are not really interested in citizenship. I don’t know to what extent that is true, but many believe that Obama’s lax immigration policies are aimed at changing the nature and numbers of voters.

They will also launch a digital campaign, beginning with a website for the New American Democracy Campaign, which strives to “remove the barriers that keep eligible immigrants from naturalizing, increase naturalization and mobilize voters by creating the first-ever voter registration program for naturalized citizens and for the U.S.-citizen children of immigrants.”

The site, which points visitors to events in their areas, states that the campaign launched because “xenophobic and anti-immigrant rhetoric has inundated the presidential campaign trail” and therefore, “we must empower the immigrant community so that their voices may be heard at the polls.”

Obama’s plan to “fundamentally change the United States of America” has always been about making permanent— Democrat control of the reins of government — not of doing anything to improve the country, which should be clear by now.

It’s just about power and control.

VIDEO: Obama, president OF the unions, BY the unions, FOR the unions by American Elephant

Obama chanting SEIU after promising, as president, to “paint the nation purple”. Almost everything this president has done since in office has been to pay back unions for getting him elected. The vast majority of stimulus money went to unions, both directly and indirectly. “Shovel ready projects”, “High speed rail” and “infrastructure” all have the same purpose — to grow the public unions and provide more compulsory union dues, which in turn are spent to re-elect Democrats, who then give more of your money to unions to get themselves elected.  This is why Democrats wanted to unionize the Department of Homeland security, and TSA. Not because it is in the nation’s best interest, and not to protect any fallacious rights (you dont have a right to strike against the people); they want to unionize as many workers as possible, because those union dues go directly to electing more Democrats.

It’s incestuous, inherently corrupt, patently unfair and by definition against the public interest.

Unions were major proponents for Obamacare, even though they already have healthcare, because they figure when Obamacare destroys the private healthcare industry (as it is designed to do), and the American people are left with no choice but to beg for government run socialized medicine — they can then turn around and demand that they KEEP the money that used to pay for their healthcare as salary.

Public employee unions are the most selfish, most corrupt groups in the nation. They are enjoying boom times on your dollars, on the dollars that are taken away from employers, on the dollars that are taken out of the economy to grow government. And their lavish salaries and benefits are bankrupting the states and the federal government. While the people who pay their salaries take pay cuts, and lose their jobs, public employees are getting raises, bonuses, and in the case of the Federal Government, Obama is freezing their pay for two years, which is utterly meaningless since they already make twice what you do.

Americans are on our side on this, they know the gravy train must be cut off. It is the right side, and I think we will win big.

But Republicans also need to make sure this sticks to Obama. This is who he is, a union organizer, a Chicago-Daly Machine thug as corrupt as they come, and its time Americans understood that. It’s imperative they understand it, before he can wreak any more devastation on the country than he already has.

So contact Republicans, contact your representatives, and Republicans in Wisconsin, and let them know you support them, and not to give in to the thuggery.

Public employee unions should be illegal, as they were until the 1960’s. No one who works directly for  the American people should be allowed to organize against them, or hold vital services hostage in demands for more wages. Even FDR was against public unions. As was our first union-dues paying president:

Now THAT is how to deal with these thugs!

Democrats Pull Nasty, Crooked, Thuggish Tricks in Massachusetts Race by American Elephant

First, a thug working for Democrat Martha Coakley caught on video roughing up a Weekly Standard reporter for asking questions about a claim Coakley made in last night’s debate that the Taliban is no longer in Afghanistan. Here is Coakley blatantly ignoring the question:

And here is Coakley’s thug knocking down, blocking and roughing up the Weekly Standard reporter for embarrassing the Heir to the Kennedy Throne so…keep in mind Martha Coakley is just a few paces ahead where she can both see and hear what is happening, and she does nothing:

[UPDATE: The Weekly Standard and the Herald have the full rundown of the assault on reporter John McCormack, but I wanted to point out this photograph, which shows Martha Coakley clearly having witnessed her staffer assaulting a reporter, then the video above shows her walking away without saying a word, as if nothing had happened while her staffer continues to block, manhandle and harass the reporter. Some Attorney General! I do believe she should be going to court over this, and not in a prosecutorial role.]

And lastly here are a group of union steel-workers admitting that Coakley is PAYING them $50 a pop to hold up her signs, but that they are voting for Scott Brown anyway:

As you know, Scott Brown raised over $1.3 million in donations just in one day. Almost entirely in small donations. I believe the average donation was $75. But Democrats have now matched that in just TWO donations. The Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee bought over a half a million in ad time yesterday, and the SEIU wrote a check for $685,000.

They are terrified. All the believable polls show this race has gone from a guaranteed Democrat seat to a dead heat.

Scott Brown has all the momentum, all the excitement, and he’s picked up endorsements from the State Troopers and now Doug Flutie:

If you’ve had all you can take of Democrat corruption, you can donate and volunteer for Scott Brown here. You can also call your friends and family in Massachusetts and make sure they get out to vote for Scott Brown.
