Remember when toys weren’t just painted with lead, they were made out of it? And we put them in our mouths and lived to tell about it? Remember when we told our parents we were going outside and they had no idea where we were for hours at a time… and didn’t care? Our friend Mookie does. It’s a terrific post. Nostalgic and timely. Read it first, then watch  this excellent video by Andrew Klavan on Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America.

Ronald Reagan once warned us that, “freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” We have already accepted the encroachment of big government so far into our lives.

I fear we are in danger of proving him right.
