The coronavirus epidemic is shaking humanity and turning the world upside down. Quick, somebody alert the media.
The Washington press corps is covering one of the largest, continuing stories in recent history the same way it has covered the Trump administration since Day One.
The formula is simple: Whatever the president does is not just wrong, it’s borderline evil. Details at 11.
In the real world, events are unfolding at a pace and scale impossible to comprehend. But at too many news outlets, the aim is not to inform. It’s to render the harshest possible judgment on the man journalists love to hate.
Hollywood celebrities used to have to hire press agents to get their names and faces in the news (for after all, that is how they become and remain “celebrities.)” Now they just have to say something nasty about the president publicly, or to a reporter. Interesting to see how many “journalists” have become simply press agents for the Hollywood people that nobody wants to hear from anyway.
Americans are stepping up and doing what they can to help, whether it’s giving blood, sewing masks, turning their skills to producing what is needed, or just helping out their neighbors. Pity about the press.
ADDENDUM: Matt Margolis has an excellent column at PJMedia entitled “The Top 10 Lies About President Trump’s Response to the Coronavirus” Extremely useful in the current media climate.
The American press is so focused on what we are calling “click bait” or celebrity that they do not notice commentary from scholars or scientists or experts in one field or another, in favor of reporting what some has-been from Hollywood has to say, that it is a big choice in reporting. A recognizable name is favored over important ideas every time. Robert DeNiro is famous for something other than his usually foul mouth, but I cannot remember what, nor dredge up any reason why anything he has to say would be of interest.
This kind of emphasis is why President Trump refers to the “fake media” as well as why the media is so offended at his categorization. This is why we have to listen to the inane comments from AOC, but have to search out commentary from highly regarded climate scientists. I don’t care what anyone from Hollywood has to say about anything at all. I’ve pretty much given up any interest in movies because of their dumb politics. If I am in need of pure entertainment, I’ll look for old movies or movies from Britain. I have seen some notice that movie attendance is way off. They have only themselves to blame. I don’t post my opinions so much to complain, but for others who think the same way, to know that they are not alone.

I don’t know if you have noticed but the media’s weird story of the day more often than not, comes from Florida. Stephen Green, (Vodka Pundit at PJ Media) has noticed, and today proclaims this as “Florida Man Friday” with a roundup of the latest news from the Sunshine State (also known as the Alligator State). Do scroll through the whole thing. Funny!
The Media is trying hard to make a really dreadful event out of the Border Control using tear-gas on the “caravan” at the border who tried to rush the border and started throwing rocks and bottles at the Border Control Police. Members of the Border Patrol are allowed to defend themselves, and rocks and bottles can be very serious indeed. One Border Control member was killed just that way, not in the current melee.
It would be nice if the media could just report the news accurately instead of trying to spread Leftist propaganda of poor pathetic little children getting tear-gassed. The woman with two barefoot little kids was proved to be a plant for the cameras, And once again, Jim Acosta was proved not to know what he was talking about. If you recall, he tried to correct President Trump when the president said the caravans were an “invading force”, Acosta insisted they were only a poor pathetic group of unfortunates applying for amnesty. Well, 8,500 young men of military age rushing the border with rocks and bottles thrown can clearly be described as an invading force. And there are yet two more caravans on the way. They are not eligible for any kind of amnesty.
The Leftist media pay no attention to what has been reported. We were told, by Caravan spokesmen that they did not want amnesty, and knew they would not get it anyway, they just wanted jobs. That was repeated several times, but it didn’t fit with the Left’s preferred story line, nor with their goal of getting more illegals in to be counted in the 2020 census.
If this first group is accurately numbered at 8,500, there are two more caravans yet to arrive, and we don’t know the body count for them, but it’s probably similar. We certainly haven’t heard anyone talking about how much smaller the two following groups are. The Mexicans are fed up with them and are deporting them as fast as they can. Seven out of ten Mexicans are opposed to the caravans. The citizens of Tijuana are furious at the massive intrusion, and are demanding help from the Mexican government as their own police try to deal with them.
Obama repeatedly dealt with migrant caravans with pepper spray and tear gas, over 30 times, but the Left is unable to criticize their own. Their entire purpose is to defame the current President of the United States, and they will try anything that promises success in defaming or displacing him.
A day of confusion and consternation, centered around trying to find out just what has transpired. When I got up, admittedly late, the American media was in hysterics trying to find out exactly to what extent President Trump had sold his country down the proverbial river, to the Russians. Shameless, Traitorous, etc. etc. etc.
Apparently President Trump was supposed to have grasped President Putin by the lapels, and told him sternly never, never to interfere in an American election again, and having failed to do so—he was a traitor of such tremendous consequence that our country might never recover. That seemed somewhat unlikely, but trying to find out what actually happened and what all the fuss is about has not been easy.
Nobody knows what was said in the meeting between the two of them. The big deal is the press conference. Of course. For truth and insight one turns to the mainstream media. What got the media all excited was the Mueller team’s announcement that they were indicting a bunch of Russians for interfering, hacking, or perhaps something more nefarious. After a lot of useless reading, I turned to the Manhattan Contrarian who explained the whole indicting Russians things clearly. There is very little of solid substance and a large amount of attack Trump just before he heads to Helsinki. It’s the same old “spear-phishing” of DNC servers and the Podesta computers. No American is included, no connection to Trump or his campaign. The hacked information is the documents showing the Hillary campaign manipulated to Democratic party nominating process to the disadvantage of Bernie Sanders. We already knew that. The Contrarian adds:
Meanwhile, Trump is off trying to conduct the foreign policy of the United States, including with Putin and Russia, with this group of people who supposedly work for him actually trying to undermine him at every turn.
Clearly it was necessary to find the transcript of the press conference and read the whole thing. Better to read what was said than to watch the YouTube version, if you want to know what was actually said rather than try to figure out the body language. All sorts of accusations of treason, many Republicans disapproving. Trump was not strong enough for America. Trump was trying to improve relations with Russia, to see if we could get some things done. He wasn’t trying to attack Putin for misbehavior. We have interfered in elections in other countries, we spy and try to find out that which might be a problem for us, as do most other countries. Obama’s interference in the last Israeli election was widely reported.
Was anything accomplished between the two presidents? They got to size each other up in person, rather than just from news reports. Will anything positive result from their meeting? Dunno.
