The Left, Davos, Taxes, Energy, Global Warming and Schmoozing. by The Elephant's Child

Seeing through a glass darkly. (1 Corinthians/13-12, KJV, the Apostle Paul) At Davos, energy ministers and financial advisors were asked to comment on the Trump announcement that America is open for business. Here at home, Democrats are outraged at the tax cuts, which they do not understand.

In Leftist economics, the government needs more taxes, not less, so they can help those who are struggling and feel better about themselves.  Just another example of how the right is racist, sexist, homophobic and generally mean. Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader votes emphatically against any tax cuts, but wants a $137,000 tax-cut for herself, and calls the $1,000 bonuses American companies are handing out to their employees “crumbs”, and is quite sure the tax cuts are only a “giveaway to billionaires.” But then they always think tax cuts are a scam. It’s a matter of faith for the left. (I told  you it’s a religion.)

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city’s divestment action and lawsuit against five major oil companies demanding billions for the damage the oil companies have done with their oil in causing global warming. He wants do away with them, and keep the oil in the ground.

We’re also suing five of the biggest including Exxon Mobil for example who systematically poisoned the Earth, knew about it, covered it up, explained it away, tried to hook people more and more on their product.

Even some sympathetic Leftist media outfits pointed out that suing over global warming while driving around in a fleet of SUVs is silly. There’s an even sillier effort by the State of California, but then they’ve long since gone round the bend, in this case, based on research from a 9-year-old.

Steven Hayward has found a lovely example of just how much Liberals hate Constitutional Government. Someone named Ryan Cooper explains just why
“limited government is such an impediment to their endless dreams of ruling over us more completely so they can fix every human problem” in “America’s Constitution is terrible. Let’s throw it out and start over.”

Here’s the business coverage of the important stuff that happened at Davos. Do watch the whole thing, for all the differing opinions. There are doubters at Davos too, but you’ll appreciate the coverage of all those views. What does America’s fracking revolution mean? What do America’s tax cuts mean around the rest of the world? What’s going on in other countries?

I guess the Money department at CNN is a little more serious that the rest of that outfit. Very interesting. You’ll even get a chance to see how simultaneous translation works. Seeing through a glass darkly indeed.

Business is delighted with the removal of large quantities of unneeded regulation. Everybody loves infrastructure spending. (What the heck is infrastructure anyway? Are potholes in the nation’s roads slowing the economy? Trump was disturbed that our airports are not as efficient as others. They always talk about “crumbling” infrastructure, as Obama did, and he was foiled by “shovel readiness,”and sold off a big percentage of our auto industry instead.

Matthew 28:1-10

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
