The Great Reset: ‘You’ll own nothing’ — not a home, a car or — a Christmas tree! It’s time to “rent” your Christmas tree — It’s just better for the environment’
World Economic Forum Touts Christmas tree ‘rental’: Christmas trees are being rented over the festive period in a bid to stop millions from going to landfill. The trees are taken home in a pot and returned in the same one. The farm then re-plants it until the following year.
Marc Morano comments: “The Great Reset/Green New Deal/Build Back Better are all using COVID and a ‘climate emergency’, to very clearly lay out your future. No private ownership of homes or cars or even Christmas trees. Air travel will be permitted only when it is ‘morally justifiable’. The Great Reset has revealed the future it seeks and you are not free.”
This sounds like a joke, but it isn’t. They are quite serious. Andrew Yang: presidential candidate: Climate Change may require elimination of Car Ownership. He suggests a constant roving fleet of electric cars.
The New York Times: “Let’s Quit Fetishizing the Single-Family Home ” ( by NYT columnist Farhad Manjoo): “The single-family home is out of step with the future…a big house with a backyard should be a rarity…single -family zoning has a history in segregation.”
Warmist Eric Holthaus envisions Earth Day 2070; “A world not focused on growth, but on life. A world not focused on ownership, but on solidarity.”
This is the “Green New Deal” unveiled. the Entire economy would operate it — Government would have ‘appropriate ownership stakes’ in ALL Green New Deal businesses.
And don’t forget Al Gore; “This is the time for a ‘Great Reset’ to fix a bunch of challenges, first among them the climate crisis.” Of course as soon as he made big pronouncements of saving the oceans, he bought a waterfront condo in San Francisco.
And as for the climate crisis that Joe Biden is so panicked about: Undisputed temperature reconstructions from around the world show the planet was much warmer over most of the Holocene (the past 10,000 years) than it is today. Modern Iceland is 2 to 4 degrees C. colder than in all of the last 8,000 years.
They don’t do their homework, they do not study up. They simply follow the current propaganda in their crowd. Goes for their “journalists” too. You can check out your sources to find out whether or not they know what they are talking about, and they don’t always. Conventional wisdom is a lot easier. Doesn’t require you to read stuff, or think.

This is going to be an unusually interesting election season. Joe Biden, who has been selected as the Democrat nominee, seems to have some problems with early stage dementia. He does seem unable to remember the proper word to use, or how to adequately express himself at times, and people are concerned, although perhaps incorrectly.
Democrats are inclined to dislike Republicans, and vice versa. That’s simply the way it is, and the problems lie in the amount of dislike and the efforts to do something about it. Now that Mr. Biden has chosen Kamala Harris as his Vice Presidential partner, the campaign has instantly become about sexism.
The usual Hollywood “celebrities” (someone whose name may be recognizable and thereby attract readers) have immediately called up Hillary as an example of someone who lost an election because of sexism. Which is an error. Hillary lost because she is a compulsive liar, had performed poorly as Secretary of State, and is roundly disliked. Nothing to do with her sex. She did notify the campaign that she was anxious to help out in any way she can.
I don’t think much of Kamala Harris as a candidate, and with Joe Biden’s age and possible dementia we have to assume that Ms. Harris could very likely become president. Articles I’ve seen: “Former Obama speechwriter mocks mainstream media’s “hilarious” push to call Kamala Harris “moderate” and Tensions linger between Biden and Obama Carried throughout 2020 primary campaign: Not sure what’s going on here, the Obama group doesn’t like the Biden group?
The Biden, Harris team are going for some very radical (and ignorant) ideas about the climate, which is just fine, and cooling slightly. They are all for AOC’s “Green New Deal.” Joe Biden wants to ban fracking and the advances that have given us plentiful and cheap energy to run America’s manufacturers and cities, Kamala wants to ban plastic straws and limit access to red meat, altering the food pyramid. Harris wants to reenter us in the Paris Climate accords so “we would be carbon neutral by 2030.” Sorry. Carbon dioxide is not the control knob for the climate. The climate of the earth is determined by the actions of the sun, which is currently in a slightly cooling phase.
Why can’t people study up a little on subjects they know they don’t understand very well? You don’t have to become an expert, just learn enough to be an informed voter and an intelligent conversationalist. Dr.Roy Spencer, who measures the temperatures of the earth–running the satellites for NASA, has a short helpful explanation of “global warming” at his website, and if you look at his blog, there’s an amazing video of a lightning strike.
Growing up in the mountains of Idaho, we once had a lightning strike about 200 yards from the house. It made a remarkably loud noise, and stripped the bark in a circular pattern down the trunk of a Ponderosa Pine. It’s a Big Deal up close.
I am convinced that the Democrats depend on people’s reluctance to study up and depend on their lack of information to accuse their opposition candidates of absurd things. Democrats have tried hard for four years or more to stick President Trump with some sort of collaboration with Russia or Vladimir Putin. None there, but they just would not give up on it, and are back at it.
The other big drive is to blame President Trump for all the deaths from the Covid virus. Good grief, he not only slammed the gates shut to any flights from China immediately, but has not only dealt well the virus and medical equipment needed in this country, but helped other countries as he could as well.

Perhaps we should increase the age when one is eligible to run for Congress. AOC was apparently an excellent student. She graduated cum laude with a double major in international affairs and (snort) economics. But she was the youngest woman to be elected to Congress. She announced Friday that an explosion at a Philadelphia oil refinery was due to climate change, arguing that the incident underscores the urgency of her Green New Deal. (A vat of butane ignited and eventually exploded at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refining Complex, followed by a series of smaller explosions through the pipes moving fuel around the complex. It injured five workers and took 120 firefighters to bring under control.)
You have noticed, I ‘m sure that AOC has become what is called “click bait”– that is, articles about her will be clicked on and partly read, which means that the advertisers’ ads will be seen, which pays the newsmen’s salaries for their stories. (Heck of a way to run an economy). Democrats pay attention because she is one of theirs who gets attention, those suffering from “climate panic” because of her “green new deal”, and Republicans, because everything she says is so remarkably stupid. She also had some remark about Trump not allowing toothpaste to the children in the concentration camps at the southern border. She has never been to the southern border, and has turned down innumerable offers to be enlightened a little about concentration camps.
ADDENDUM: I saw an article which showed AOC at the border, so I was mistaken about her never having been. I cannot find it again, but as I recall, she was staring at a chain link fence, which she apparently confused with a concentration camp. I apologize for misleading anyone.

The fabled “Green New Deal” would have essentially no effect whatsoever on global warming, yet it would impose enormous economic and social costs. The report comes from the American Enterprise Institute’s Benjamin Zycher, who analyzed likely impacts of the Green New Deal as outlined by new Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D- N.Y.) calling for such a program to supposedly cut U.S . greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050. Uh huh. They were even ever so sure that it would actually boost the economy.
The “boosting” bit depends on a “broken windows” theory (If you break a lot of windows, you’ll have to hire a lot of people to replace them.) Not a serious claim.
The United States counts for only a minor part of the worldwide CO2 emissions, but Zycher explains that if we achieved zero emissions, it would cut future temperatures by 0.083 to 0.173 degrees Celsius by 2100 — essentially zero. The overall cost would be about $490 billion, and would require for renewable energy – the seizure of some 115 million acres of land, more than the area of the entire state of California.
Remember that “renewable” energy only works when the wind is blowing at the optimum speed of about 35 miles an hour, and the sun is shining in a cloudless sky. If that’s not happening, you have to use plain old conventional energy because our society depends on energy. These are well known facts.
Looks like we are going to have a national demonstration, however. Democrats believe in global warming, probably because Republicans are not apt to. New York City politicians intend to “lead the way” to combat “climate change.”
Last week, the City Council voted almost unanimously for a package of six bills that comprise the “Climate Mobilization Act” for the nation’s largest city. Of the 44 council members voting, only two opposed this legislation.
What will happen that is predictable is the immediate cost. The centerpiece of this legislation is the $4 billion energy efficiency mandate on the City’s largest buildings, on top of the already substantial property taxes and construction costs. But that is just the beginning of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s estimated $14 billion strategic plan—his own “Green New Deal”—unveiled on Earth Day to reduce the City’s “carbon footprint…before it’s too late.”…
Mayor de Blasio said building owners need to “clean up their act” (who knew they were such polluters?) and that “if we don’t get results, there will be real fines.” In addition to the City Council’s handiwork, the mayor’s plan would go further by effectively banning glass-walled and steel buildings. I suppose what would remain is concrete and stone. Appropriately, today’s front page of the New York Post ridiculed the mayor.
They also plan on “phasing out reliance of processed meat and reduce the City’s purchase of beef by 50 percent.”Imagine people in elective office assuming that they can dictate your diet and lifestyle. Well, after all, they are attempting to save the planet!

According to the people who actually measure the temperature of the planet with satellite and weather balloon for NASA, over the last 40 years the earth has warmed approximately 0.25° Celsius or 2.2° Fahrenheit. According to Anthony Watts, a 2° F. warming is roughly equivalent to the warming seen most spring days between 10 a.m. and noon.
So naturally the kids have been skipping school today to demonstrate and march to save them from the catastrophic warming of the earth because we are all going to die in 12 years if we don’t eliminate fossil fuels and save the planet with wind turbines and solar cells. Never mind the annoying fact that the wind does not blow all the time, sometimes not for days, and wind turbines shut down completely when it gets cold. The sun, even the kids might have noticed, sinks beneath the horizon every night. And there are clouds, often lots of clouds. The big solar arrays just don’t produce enough electricity to run much of anything. The European nations that got all excited about solar have pretty much backed off because it doesn’t work.
Have you heard of “The sustainability agenda” This is from a report from the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) in Britain.
The impetus to put the environment and sustainable development at the centre of the education agenda can be traced back to the early 1970s. In these early days of the modern environmental movement, the UN’s Stockholm Conference of 1972 concluded that environmental education was ‘essential in order to broaden the basis for…enlightened opinion and responsible conduct’. By1976, such ideas had taken hold, and an international conference on
environmental education was held in Belgrade to plan the way forward. At its conclusion, the Belgrade Charter was issued, stating that the aim of environmental education was the development of a world population that was educated about the environment, had ‘strong feelings of concern for the environment and the motivation for actively participating in its protection and improvement’.Children as political tools
This revolution in the purpose of education appears to be not only concerned with changing the way children think but also about changing the behaviour of adults, using their children as a lever. The chairman of the IPCC, Rajendra Pachauri has suggested that a focus on children is the top priority for bringing about societal change, and that by ‘sensitising’ children to climate change, it will be possible to get them to ‘shame adults into taking the right steps’.Pachauri’s ideas are echoed in UNICEF’s manual on climate change education, which, it is claimed, is about helping children to become ‘agents of change’. The EU, meanwhile, has funded schemes aimed at promoting the standard, narrow ideas about climate change and its causes in schools. Their explicit wish is to ‘link students in both primary and secondary schools across Europe to discuss, engage and commit to undertake actions to limit the change in climate.’
The whole report can be found here. It is British, but the general push is quite international as you may have noticed in the “Green New Deal.” Long, but interesting.

One might think that before you attempt to Re-Organize the Whole Country on wisps and idle thoughts in your first weeks in Congress, you might have consulted someone, (anyone?) who knows something about energy, in order to keep from embarrassing yourself and all the other newbies who have decided to run for president, and just signed right on. You see, you do not know what you are talking about. Yes, this informative video comes from the energy industry, but who do you suppose knows enough about energy to explain the facts?
These are the first two videos in a projected series of six videos explaining the realities of energy, from the Clear Energy Alliance. There’s a lot more that we need to know, like the wonders and usefulness of nuclear power. What about Fukushima? Don’t we have to worry about something like that? That’s why I recommend watching for the rest of the series to come.

What a peculiar time this is.. Democrats and Republicans seem to be speaking different languages, each about completely different world. Jussie Smollett has dominated the news for days – that seem to be weeks, over an incident that never happened. The figure that controls much of our attention is a freshman congressperson who has not the slightest idea of what it is that Congress does nor why. Someone on the radio just pointed out brilliantly that “It’s not what she says, it’s the confidence of her cluelessness.”
That confidence has led to Conservative fascination with what she says specifically because it is so clueless. The Green New Deal, a big idea, was issued before anyone had read it, approved it, or even had chance absorb the contents. “The New Deal” was Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s answer to The Great Depression brought on by the 1929 Stock Market Crash. FDR had not the slightest idea of what to do about the misery, so he assembled his “brain trust” which made what he was doing seem approved by superior wisdom.
In fact he had embarked on course of endless tinkering – which, it has been determined, actually prolonged the Depression by seven long years. The Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, with breadlines and soup kitchens to feed the unemployed. There was not, at the time, the safety net we have today. But over the last half-century we have had one planetary scare after another. In the 1960’s it was an unstoppable human population explosion that would inexorably lead to global starvation. (Norman Borlaug saved us from that one). During the early 1970s the temperatures which had been gradually rising since the Little Ice Age some 400 years before, seemed to be falling again, and many eminent scientists warned that we were facing the horrors of a new ice age.
Ice ages are followed by global warming, Al Gore, Leonardo Di Caprio, Harrison Ford, and the extinction of the polar bears, and probably the caribou as well. What did happen was that the government got interested, and suddenly there was grant money available. and lot of professors who could write a grant proposal thought that with new equipment and more powerful computers, they could solve the problem. They started with the basic program that Wall Street had been using for figuring out where the stock market was going, and entered what they knew about the temperature, and what they knew about the atmosphere, and some significant information and some speculation, and a few wild guesses, and they got their grants and money for ever fancier computers. The globe seemed to be warming inexorably, and they even got to hire some assistants and appear on the local news. Heady stuff.
The federal government had thermometer stations all over the country, often at airports, and it gradually turned out – next to air conditioner exhausts, or trash burners, reflective concrete walls, and it became clear that there was a lot of artificial warming built into the readings. We had 97 % of scientists agreeing, which was bunk, and anyone who did not agree with the meaningless 97% or questioned Michael Mann’s hockey stick graph, was called “a denier” and stuffed in the unacceptable category. So if you trust Al Gore or Leonardo DiCaprio, then global warming becomes a real thing to be feared.
Thing is, our records of real temperatures range from thin to non-existent. City temperatures have a heat bias from too many concrete heat-retaining walls and streets and traffic, Tree rings have proved to be unreliable, and we just don’t have any reliable history. Paintings of people skating on the Thames tell us something, but not enough.
People who depend on what they’re told without questioning it must find the whole thing scary – forest fires all over the west (no), hurricanes (no), tornadoes (no), In the past 40 years, since we have had satellites measuring the temperatures of the Global Lower Atmosphere the Climate Models have shown warming that is 67% greater than the average of 9 Observational Datasets. According to the Satellite measurements the Earth has warmed in the past 40 years about 25/100ths of one degree Centigrade.
Our own Governor Jay Inslee, on CBS’s”Face the Nation” said that ” if President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to get the funds to build border wall on the U.S. Border with Mexico stands then Democrats will use those “new rules” to address climate change. He says there is not a national security emergency, Donald Trump has a political emergency.” ” He added that the president should be responding to rel emergencies like forest fires. … and climate change is burning down our forests. ”
Governor Inslee wants badly to run for the presidency, but can’t get much attention when there are so many others who hit the Democrat brownie points, like being a woman or being black or both. The Cato Institute ranked him as the worst governor in the United States for his fiscal management of his state, but Democrats aren’t all that interested in fiscal management. Checking off the identity points is more important.

Things are looking up. Most of the Democrats who were planning to run for the presidency have just disqualified themselves. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Sen. Ed Markey (D-NY) have introduced her “Green New Deal” in a bill which has been quickly joined by the long list of Democrats who want to run for the presidency. Big Mistake. This tells us that you don’t do your homework, and will sell out your country for a pittance.
Here are some of the goals as listed by David Harsanyi at The Federalist:
- Ban affordable energy. GND calls for the elimination of all fossil fuel energy production, the lifeblood of American industry and life, which includes not only all oil but also natural gas — one of the cheapest sources of American energy, and one of the reasons the United States has been able to lead the world in carbon-emissions reduction.
- Eliminate nuclear energy. The GND also calls for eliminating all nuclear power, one of the only productive and somewhat affordable “clean” energy sources available to us, in 11 years. This move would purge around 20 percent of American energy production so you can rely on intermittent wind for your energy needs.
- Eliminate 99 percent of cars. To be fair, under the GND, everyone will need to retrofit their cars with Flintstones-style foot holes or pedals for cycling. The authors state that the GND would like to replace every “combustion-engine vehicle” — trucks, airplanes, boats, and 99 percent of cars — within ten years. Charging stations for electric vehicles will be built “everywhere,” though how power plants will provide the energy needed to charge them is a mystery.
- Gut and rebuild every building in America. Markey and Cortez want to “retrofit every building in America” with “state of the art energy efficiency.” I repeat, “every building in America.” That includes every home, factory, and apartment building, which will all need, for starters, to have their entire working heating and cooling systems ripped out and replaced with…well, with whatever technology Democrats are going invent in their committee hearings, I guess.
- Eliminate air travel. GND calls for building out “highspeed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary.” Good luck Hawaii! California’s high-speed boondoggle is already in $100 billion dollars of debt, and looks to be one of the state’s biggest fiscal disasters ever. Amtrak runs billions of dollars in the red (though, as we’ll see, trains will also be phased out). Imagine growing that business model out to every state in America?
- A government-guaranteed job. The bill promises the United States government will provide every single American with a job that includes a “family-sustaining wage, family and medical leave, vacations, and a pension.” You can imagine that those left in the private sector would be funding these through some unspecified “massive” taxation. On the bright side, when you’re foraging for food, your savings will be worthless.
- Free education for life. GND promises free college or trade schools for every American.
- A salubrious diet. The GND promises the government will provide “healthy food” to every American (because there are no beans or lettuce in your local supermarket, I guess).
- A house. The GND promises that the government will provide, “safe, affordable, adequate housing” for every American citizen. I call dibs on an affordable Adams Morgan townhouse. Thank you, Ocasio-Cortez.
- Free money. The GND aims to provide, and I am not making this up, “economic security” for all who are “unable or unwilling” to work. Just to reiterate: if you’re unwilling to work, the rest of us will have your back.
- Bonus insanity: Ban meat. Ocasio-Cortez admits that we can’t get zero emissions in 10 years “because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.” The only way to get rid of farting cows is to get rid of beef.
The climate of the Earth has been warming and cooling for millions of years. The rise of the sea-level is measured in millimeters. In the case of bigger measurements, it seems to be because the coast is sinking.
So-called clean or renewable energy – cannot produce the energy needed by the country. The problem is not the numbers of turbines or solar arrays, but the nature of wind and sunshine. A wind turbine needs wind to blow at a steady speed. Wind blows in puffs, and wafts, and gales. or for long periods, not at all. Sunlight is diffuse, there are clouds, and cloudy days and weeks, and perhaps you have noticed that it sinks beneath the horizon at night. Where there is dependence on wind or solar, they must have 24/7 backup from conventional power sources. You would require the acreage of one of our larger states full of turbines to even come close to needs.
The most expensive and elaborate solar project ever built was the Ivanpah project built in California’s Mojave Desert. (Enter Ivanpah in the space over Bob Hope’s head in the sidebar). It was a total flop. Produced less than 40% of the advertised energy, killed literally hundreds if not millions of birds, roasting them in mid-air, which at some point must really effect the environment.
Hawaii’s Mazie Hirono had some objections to the idea of eliminating airlines. If you wish to learn something about “Global Warming” see the websites under Science and Technology in the sidebar. Start with Roy Spencer who runs the sattelites that monitor the temperature of the world. Add Climate Depot, Watts Up With That, and Master Resource to your regular sources.
Scratch every supporter of this nonsense from your list of reasonable people. This bunch do not do their homework, do not know what they are talking about, and are willing to sell out their country for cheap political points. Embarrssing.
