Americans do not currently have much confidence in their institutions. Their approval of Congress has dropped to a dismal 10%, according to Gallup. This is the lowest point on record, but approval has been stuck below 30% for years. It reflects a divided Congress with a Republican House and a Democrat controlled Senate who disagree sharply on policy. Gridlock can be a good thing. Americans approve of the military (76%); small business (65%); and the police (57%); organized religion (48%); the presidency (36%); the medical system (35%); the Supreme Court (34%); the public schools (32%); criminal justice (28%); Banks (26%); the press (23%); Organized labor (20%); HMOs (19%); and Congress (10%). It wasn’t asked to what extent Americans approve of the IRS, or the State Department, the EPA, or the Energy Department,  or the CIA.

Americans have told their government over and over that they care about jobs and the economy. Nobody seems to be paying attention, which probably has something to do with the lack of confidence. Accompanied, of course, by the long list of scandals.

Obama has promised to halt the rise of the oceans, heal the planet, and stop global warming in its tracks by eliminating carbon pollution. That’s on his “To Do List,”as he has told us repeatedly.

Now, we learn from Britain’s Independent, that the CIA  (the Central Intelligence Agency) is backing a $630,000 study into how to control global weather through geoengineering. The CIA is helping to fund a study by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) that will investigate whether humans could use geoengineering —which is defined as deliberate and large-scale intervention in the Earth’s climatic system — to stop climate change.

The NAS website describes the study as an investigation into “a limited number of proposed geoengineering techniques, including examples of both solar radiation management (SRM) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) techniques.”…

Solar radiation management (SRM) is a theoretical branch of geoengineering which moots the idea of reflecting sunlight in an attempt to block infrared radiation and halt rising temperatures.

The cost of the project is reported to be $630,000, which NAS is splitting with the CIA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and NASA reports say.

He has done the heal the sick bit with ObamaCare. He has scheduled the end of the wars, and since there hasn’t been any warming for 15 years, I guess he could drop confetti from the upper atmosphere to block solar radiation and simply declare success.

The pressure to enhance the presidential “To Do List” must be extreme, for the Navy has announced their enthusiasm for running their ships on non-existent biofuel, and demonstrated that it could be done with a brew of chicken fat and algae. They are trying for green aviation fuel for our fighter jets, and now the CIA is studying up on how to control global weather, which someone believes  influences our national security.

Another recent poll notes that voters like the coal industry better than they like the EPA. Might be useful to keep that in mind.
