Hysteria, Hysteria and More Hysteria! by The Elephant's Child

On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “AM Joy”, whatever that is, host Rachel Maddow announced that “The worst case scenario that the president is a foreign agent suddenly feels very palpable.”

“The basic question, which I think rung so loud for everybody in the country this week was, is our president subordinate to a foreign power? Does our president answer to a foreign government and a foreign leader? And that’s private meeting with Putin, where nobody knows what he promised or what he may have given away, the way that he responded to Putin when we saw him face-to-face, and then the fact that he took under consideration all of these demands from Russia, including handing over Americans to Russia for interrogation. That just — you know, it makes the worst case scenario really palpable. The worst case scenario that the president is a foreign agent suddenly feels very palpable.”

Oh please. The hysteria of the Left just gets sillier. They’ve done the decapitated head, the women’s marches with pussy hats, the Nazi, Hitler, Auschwitz comparisons, the vulgarities, the accusations of authoritarianism (don’t we elect presidents to be an authority and get things done?) They’re big on decapitations, but there’s just so much of excess that you can find and your insults get old and tiresome and boring.

They are furious about lower taxes, a growing economy and low unemployment, but they can’t say that. They are enraged that he dumped the Paris Climate Accords and convince themselves that it means something terrible for the Earth. Outraged at the very idea of a border wall, ripping little children from the arms of their mothers, trying desperately to link him to the pictures from the Obama administration of children in cages. Comedians and comediennes are having a dreadful time trying to come up with significant insults and extreme language to top what is going around and yet attempt to be funny at the same time. They end up simply being disgusting, and do not grasp their failure.

As we learn that there was no evidence of any Russian collusion—no there there, for the FISA Court, no reason for the Mueller Investigation, just a fishing expedition, the hysteria just grows. He spoke to President Putin in private, so there are cries of “treason”, charges that the president is a Russian “asset”, “that remarks at a press conference constitute an impeachable offense” seem as Michael Anton says—unhinged.

“The World Explained: It’s Simple – Everyone is Smart..Except Trump” A must read article by Dov Fischer at The American Spectator, and reprinted by Zero Hedge. Let’s call it a welcome and long overdue rant. A fun read.

The President, The Resistance, The People by The Elephant's Child

From The American Spectator

It’s June and the crush of undocumented immigrants at the U.S. border with Mexico has hit a crisis point.

Government officials are housing migrants in tents and separating some children from their parents. Tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors attempt to cross the southern border; some 90,000 are expected to be apprehended by year’s end. A former top administration official defends the government’s policy: “We have to send a clear message. Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean your child gets to stay.”

The year was 2014. Barack Obama was president and the quote was uttered by Hillary Clinton, Obama’s secretary of state from 2009 to 2013 who also plainly stated that thousands of children “should be sent back” to their families.

‘The Resistance’ doesn’t seem to be creating a wedge between President Trump and the party.  It’s turning off Liberal supporters as well.
From Don Surber:

The Times approach to Trump supporters was laughably offensive. It reported, “In interviews across the country over the last few days, dozens of Trump voters, as well as pollsters and strategists, described something like a bonding experience with the president that happens each time Republicans have to answer a now-familiar question: ‘How can you possibly still support this man?'”

Buried in Paragraph 26 was the answer, from John Westling, 70, of Princeton, Minnesota, who said, “Let’s see. Economy booming, check. Unemployment down, check. Border security being addressed, check. Possible end to the Korean War that started when I was 3 years old, 68 years ago, check.”

Democrats fall in love. It’s the leader of “their team”— the savior who will bring them all good things. who will save them from the perils of life. It’s a romantic relationship. I have been in many Democrat homes where there is a picture of the (Democrat) President on the wall.

Republicans care about what the president does. They argue incessantly about what he does for the country, what Congress should do, whether what they have done will be effective. I have never been in a Republican home where there was a picture of the President (of either party) on the wall.

Where Did These Violent Protests Come From? by The Elephant's Child

How did we get here? Democrats have lost elections before, and engaged in some mild excess, but now they seem completely deranged. We had a brief hiatus from the dramatic evidence of the failure of our schools and universities to acquaint our students with the Constitution and the meaning of free speech, let alone manners and deportment. Faculty have exhibited themselves as instigators and the administrators have established that they are not only not the adults in the situation, but it didn’t occur to them to mete out punishment for wretched excess.

In my day, which admittedly was a while ago, miscreants were promptly sent home, and I do mean promptly. And good luck about returning.

So — How did we get here? Is this stuff contagious? In a way, it is.

Democrats have lost power in a very big way, and seeking power is at their very essence. They’re old. Their ideas are not only stale, but they don’t work. Their former president, who did massive damage to the country, is not retiring graciously to let the next president have his turn, but actively and admittedly trying to destroy his successor.

Each loudmouth, and there are many in Hollywood and on TV, oddly enough many are “comics”— seeking the limelight and an audience — readily available in the form of our very partisan media, ready to celebrate every and any disturbing word. Surely you have noticed that if you removed the “he said”, and “she said” from the news, there wouldn’t be much of anything left.

Comics get brownie points for saying something rude, which gives permission to the next person at the microphone to top that, which in turn gives more permissions and so on, and so on. So you have Kathy Griffin holding up a bloody facsimile head of the President of the United States supposedly chopped off as ISIS might do, and the poor thing doesn’t even understand that she has committed an unforgivable faux pas that will be talked about and reviled for years to come. She’s back in today’s news congratulating Kaepernick for “his activism.” They never learn.

It’s Can You Top This time. Permission has been given. Black Lives Matter, a Marxist bunch, attempts to make The Racism, Sexism, theme the top priority, and Antifa goes for violence. Even speech that disagrees with you is not “hate speech.” Invited Conservative speakers are shouted down and attacked because it is too much for tender ears to hear “hate speech” which is defined as anything conservative, because Conservatives are known to be racist, sexist, homophobes etc, etc.

The media are demonstrating their partisanship or general ignorance, I’m not sure which. Remember Ben Rhodes description of his regular contacts with the media for the Obama administration:

“Most of the outlets are reporting on world events from Washington. The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That’s a sea change. They literally know nothing.”

It is catching. Each excess gives permission to do the same only better, bigger, more excessive. So now we have corporate CEOs talking their political views as the top official of their company. Not smart. Why a business would want to offend at least half of their customers is a mystery, Stock down. Sales down. CEOs gone.Half the American people no longer interested in the business or their products. Some business reporters could not understand why any CEO would be willing to serve on an advisory council with the hated President of the United States. (Probably because President Trump was interested in cutting taxes for business and removing troublesome regulations?)

Sports teams managed to offend a large percentage of the American people. Unnecessary if they had done their homework. Real damage to their sport. In fact most of these excesses arise because of the ignorance of the people committing the error.

The remedy? Courses in the United States Constitution. Nobody seems to be familiar with the document. A familiarity with the Declaration would be in order too, after Chuck Todd proved on Meet the Press, for all to see, that he was completely unfamiliar with the “all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator” line.

College administrators need to grow backbone, and administrate. That’s what the big salaries and honorifics and outrageous tuitions are all about. Sports millionaires will quickly learn about their mistakes, as many endorsements depart. Professors who are urging the miscreants on—just stop it. Try to prepare students to be decent citizens.

Here’s the Chart that the Democrats Don’t Want You to See! by The Elephant's Child

President Obama’s prime time press conference did not inspire public confidence in the Democrat plan to push through a national healthcare system.  Mr. Obama has now extended his due date till the end of the year, but they’re really going to push it hard during the August recess. We previously noted that Democrats have budgeted $80 million for the health care campaign, and will undoubtedly turn out ACORN and the Unions to fire up the faithful and convince the unconvinced.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims to have the votes needed to pass a package of legislation, and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel insists that Congress will vote before it adjourns, the majority seems to be growing more desperate as the days pass.

Evidence of their growing desperation is in the way that Democrats are censoring the GOP’s official communications to their constituents.  On last Thursday Roll Call reported that the majority party is “preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan.”

Health Care Chart

This masterpiece of bureaucracy,  developed by the Republican staff of the Joint Economic Committee at the direction of Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Tex),  the majority claims is “inaccurate”.  Brady called the criticism, delivered in an eight-point memo, “laughable,” saying the chart “depicts their health care plan as their committees developed it.”

Meanwhile, the same Franking Commission that is causing problems for Brady’s chart won’t allow Rep. John Carter (R-Tex) to use the words “government-run health care plan” in a recording to be used to start a telephone town hall meeting. “What we proposed as language was as follows: ‘House Democrats unveiled a government-run health care plan,” Carter told Human Events.   “Our response from Franking was, ‘ You cannot use that language.  You must use “The House majority unveiled a public option health care plan,’ which is Pelosi-speak or ‘ just last week the House Majority unveiled a health care plan which I believe will cost taxpayers…”

Republican staffers say that this kind of censorship of the minority by the majority is almost unheard of on Capitol Hill.  Rather than getting them down, they are taking the efforts to block their messages as a sign of their effectiveness.

“We will have a cap on costs and we will have no cap on benefits,” said Nancy Pelosi.

ADDENDUM: The white boxes on the chart represent existing offices or agencies.  The colored  boxes represent new agencies created by the House Health Care bill.
