The Craft

The Craft

The Craft is Halloween fare for the teen-movie set. (Think Heathers meets The Lost Boys). It stars Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Rachel True, and, like any other teen film of the 1990’s, Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich.

Tunny plays Sarah, the new kid in town, who immediately falls in with a crowd of outcast girls. When the girls realize that they all have powers, they form a coven and find that together their powers are stronger. Naturally they use their new found powers to enact revenge on all the “cool kids” who teased and scorned them, but when the other girls take things too far, Sarah splits from them and becomes the object of their wicked wrath.

Ok, the script it formulaic, but the film is rescued by fun special effects and some very impressive performances. Fairuza Balk is so fantastically fiendish, you’d swear she’s directly related to the wicked witch of the west.

Rated R for violence and adult situations.
