Sue Jones-Davies (on the right, as “Judith Iscariot”) has pointed out that the ultimate absurdity of this scene was that Stan (Eric Idle, who wrote this scene with John Cleese) wanted equality for women not because there was obviously a woman right there (and arguing more intelligently for the cause than any of the men!), but because he wanted to become one.
The whole “revolutionary movement” as portrayed in “Life of Brian” was (and is) a perfect description of so many leftist movements of both then and now; they spend so much time arguing amongst themselves that even when they get moving, because they are so blinked by their limited view of things, they never get very far.
