Here’s Victor Davis Hanson, once again. I suspect that there are a lot of my readers who are thoroughly uncomfortable with gas prices, increasing inflation, empty store shelves. At my home in a Seattle suburb, we have mailbox thieves, deeply unaware that stealing the mail is a federal crime that ends up with a term in the State Penitentiary. The solution seems to evade the local post office, the police department, the city council and the mayor. Buy a locking mailbox is the answer. (yes, I’m irritated). But there seem to be a lot of major problems that need to be ended immediately, but everybody wants to shove the job off onto somebody else. How about catching the thieves and actually sending them off to the pen?
We are learning that parents are not supposed to have any say over what their children are learning in school. Excuse me, who elected the school board, and who can unelect them just as promptly? School boards don’t want parents coming to their meetings, and disturbing the happy talk. There is a point at which we have to admit that if we want change, we have to stand up and make it happen, not wait for someone else to do it.
