Practical Magic

Everyone needs a Halloween movie. Kids, teens, adults, guys, and even girls… Truth be told, there’s simply not a lot of Halloween-fare for soccer moms and Oprah fans. Practical Magic solves this dilemma. It is the quintessential Halloween chick-flick.  Yes, a Halloween chick-flick.

It has sisters, it has romance, it has heartbreak. It has female bonding and empowerment (whatever that is).  It has Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as magical sisters with Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing as their magical aunts. It has an abusive boyfriend and a knight in shining armor (the figurative kind). It has aromatherapy.

In other words, everything a Lifetime-watching, “O” Magazine reading, chick wants in a flick.

But before you race for the “Next” button, it also has Zombies, witches, covens, spells, potions and spooky special effects.

Practical Magic is not the best Halloween movie out there. But it’s fun. And it makes our list of the Halloweeniest simply for being the one Halloween-flick which chick-flick lovers can love.

Rated PG-13 for some mild profanity, violence and sensuality.
