Did you have a happy Earth Day? by The Elephant's Child

This has been Earth Day, which nobody seems to care much about except the ardent “environmentalists” who believe the autistic child from Sweden who came to America to scold the United Nations for not doing enough about the climate.

Joe Biden is deeply concerned about the climate. He is going to offer asylum or other legal protections to “climate refugees” to the country, I’m not sure just what he has in mind as a “climate refugee” but here a lot of people get sick of the climate where they live, too hot summers, too much snow in the winter, smog in LA, that sort of thing, but they would be more likely to qualify as “climate refugees” than a lot of other ordinary people. That’s the reason there are so many elderly people in Florida.

I do not, however, believe in a threat to the planet from CO2. I grew up in the mountains of Idaho, at about 4000 feet on 400 acres, surrounded by National Forest. And I grew up mostly outdoors, accompanied by my trusty St. Bernard. Mild winters, big winters, floods, snowslides, I had a fairly intimate connection to the climate. One year the snow came unexpectedly early, and the deer, who usually moved slowly down to the Snake River Drainage for the winter were caught without food and tried to survive on the willows by the river. Hay was unavailable, because ranchers were trying to save their own herds as well. Dead deer provided more food for the carnivores like coyotes, cougar, lynx and the other wild cats.

Simply, the earth has warmed by about one degree Centigrade in the last 100 years. OMG, run for the hills. The climate of the earth is controlled by the actions of the sun, not the fact that you drive a gasoline-using car. Joe Biden has managed to raise the cost of gasoline significantly with his threats of electric cars, and attempts to put the oil industry out of business, like killing the XL Pipeline and all its jobs. He continues with dumb projects attempting to restrict oil, which accomplishes nothing at all. CO2, carbon dioxide, is a natural fertilizer for plants. When there is a little more CO2 in the atmosphere crops grow more abundant, more people in the world do not go hungry, and wildlife flourishes.

If you don’t understand the natural processes, you come up with dumb policies like AOC’s “Green New Deal”. She can always be counted on for a very large mouth, and massive ignorance. Her quote today at Breitbart was: “Trampling Racial Justice is the cause of Climate Change.” Ponder that one for a while,

Polls show that 73% of Americans trust the Private Sector over government to solve any environmental challenges. That’s encouraging. They are also more concerned about water pollution rather than climate change.

Here’s an article you might enjoy from the Wall Street Journal. “How a Physicist Became a Climate Truth Teller” who was the chief scientist of the Obama Energy Department.

Georgia On My Mind… by The Elephant's Child

The State of Georgia, in the wake of wide accusations across the country of vote fraud, decided to rewrite their voting regulations to eliminate such accusations. They had had some accusations directed at them and wanted to make clear what their regulations were, and make some corrections for public convenience about the hours the polls would be open. Perfectly harmless.

Apparently, if Georgia, once a Confederate State in the Civil War, approaching 200 years ago, does anything about their voter regulations, it obviously has to be deeply prejudiced and racist, because Georgia was once a Confederate State. An assortment of major corporations, several of them headquartered in Georgia, and Major League Baseball promptly Condemned Georgia’s actions! Apparently the corporations had to respond so quickly to avoid any contamination by racial prejudice that they couldn’t be responsible enough to find out what they were talking about. Simple stuff, like reading the new regulations to find out just how racially prejudiced they were.

Georgia expanded the hours the polls were open for the convenience of working people. They clarified the rules for where you were supposed to vote so you got to the right precinct, and that was about it. Nothing whatsoever about racial prejudice in any way. NOBODY made the slightest effort to actually read the short regulations so they could know what they were objecting to. We all have prejudices, many unreasonable. I am personally offended by facial hair. I hate beards and mustaches, and deplore the current fashion. I do recognize that the wearers may hate shaving, or even find facial hair attractive. But that’s the way it goes. We have had many eras of facial hair, and eventually they turn to clean-shaving again.

I am deeply offended by people who go off track and make big public deals of something because they cannot be bothered to do a tiny bit of reading. There will be no Coke in my house, even though some are claiming it’s a pretty good toilet-bowl cleaner. I have no interest in Major League Baseball anyway, and I don’t expect to fly Delta. They won’t miss me. If a lot of people react to stupidity like that, maybe some large corporations will realize that taking sides on political questions means that you are annoying about half the country’s population, and it might be a better idea to keep your mouths shut. America is a free country, and we get to voice our opinions about everything. But if your opinion is way out of line, you can expect some pushback.
