I keep mentioning that the Carbon Dioxide, CO2, that the Climatistas keep claiming is some kind of poisonous gas that is going to cause catastrophic climate change, and end life of earth, (think AOC , big mouth, massive ignorance) is a natural fertilizer for plants.
CO2 is greening the earth, making crops more productive, feeding a hungry world.
The Australian Government has issued their Climate Report. Farm productivity is UP in Australia by 68 percent. Australian farm productivity had significantly increased. The decline in rainfall from 2001 to 2021 compared to 1950-2000 saw farm profits reduced, on average by 23 percent or $29.200 with farmers receiving low returns due to climate change. But research has shown that Australian farm productivity had significantly increased with farmers producing almost 30 percent more than they did in 1989 .Over the same period, in spite of weather challenges, grain growers had increased productivity by 68 percent.
It’s just nice to find such clear evidence of common sense once in a while. Ignore AOC and John Kerry who don’t know what they are talking about.

I tell my readers often to write to their congresspeople, and realized that you may envision laboriously writing a letter, finding an envelope and a stamp, and taking it to the post office.
No. Go to House.gov, or Senate.gov, find your congresspeople on the list and a click will bring up their website where you can sound off. All the help you need including how to find out just who your congresspeople are, is right there. You can complain to your heart’s content. At worst, some staffer will enumerate the complainers from your district. And you will also find the website for their offices in your home state, so you can write twice. If you are really incensed, you can go to their home office and sound off. They mostly want to get reelected. so somebody is paying attention.
We vote for the one in our party or who we think is the best candidate, neither of whom may win. Doesn’t matter, they are still responsible for representing you. And unless their feet are held to the proverbial fire, they may not be representing you at all. It’s your best opportunity to be heard. Take advantage of it.
ADDENDUM: We are having local elections on August 3. School boards, city councils, county executive, that sort of thing. Hard to get much information about those who are running for office. We have a constant candidate for office (usually a higher one) who calls himself “goodspaceguy”, running for county executive. I have no idea who he really is, why he gets a bang out of seeing his chosen name on the ballot. This year he has a significant white beard. I assume there is a fee to get put on the ballot, but I don’t know that. He has been on the ballot for years and years. Just a local oddity here in the Seattle area. Do you have some in your area?
Wandering around the internet, trying to understand what is happening can be interesting, but not exactly in the ways intended. Let’s start with “Biden Official Orders Immigration Judges to Stop Describing Illegal Aliens as “Illegal Aliens.” A little politically correct language adjustment here? When you add another article, it changes a bit. “The House of Representatives Passes Bill to Allow Illegal Aliens to Work as Staffers”
What? I’m sorry. NO! Under what warped thinking could you assume that someone who violated the law to cross the border illegally, who is NOT a citizen could possibly be acceptable as a staffer in Congress? I know that Democrats are desperate to get more Democrat voters, but really!
First an Illegal alien needs to become legal. That means applying to enter the country legally, applying to become a citizen, studying to learn what becoming a citizen means, passing a citizenship test, and taking an oath. Any representatives that voted for that bill should be out at the upcoming election.
Here’s an article from the Washington Times: “Biden to Push for Amnesty in Reconciliation Package” Why is there any reason to extend amnesty to those who try to sneak across the border illegally for their own benefit? Disapproval of President Biden has slipped, even among members of his own party, fallen from 61 percent to 48 percent — and that’s among partisan Democrats.
Back in April reporters were asking if Biden’s “First 100 Days of Polling would Convince Him that his Agenda Does Not Have a Mandate?” Appropriate question. To work for the federal government in any capacity whatsoever, one should be a citizen. Total disapproval in the Daily Presidential Tracking Poll has been over 50%, which includes announcements about requiring vaccines at the VA and other federal agencies.
Across all demographics, likely voters rate President Biden lower on his handling of violent crime than they do on the economy, but the economy is not good for him either. Concern about violent crime is up around 50% among whites, blacks and other minorities. They are also Very Concerned about inflation.
What people will think when they learn that Congress wants Illegal Aliens to become Congressional staffers, I don’t know!. Every time we reach the borders of absurdity, the borders get shifted.
Write to your congresspeople and let them know what you think. They seem to be off in some strange land where calling someone “illegal” when they are, is more reprehensible than the ordinary violent crime that we are objecting to so much. If people are paying attention, they should be furious.

Nancy Pelosi is continuing her “Capitol Invasion” Circus in the House of Representatives. Things don’t look so good for the Democrats. They ousted the hated Donald Trump, but American Black voters were so appreciative of Trump’s “Opportunity Zones” that some have actually decided to become Republicans. Can’t have that!
Democrats are so anxious to blame the whole event on the hated Trump, that they make fools of themselves once again. They are in a terrible position. President Biden’s approval numbers are plummeting, Illegals are swarming over the Southern border, Biden’s costs for not building the wall are climbing out of sight.. Texas is having to build their own wall to compensate for what the federal government is doing to them.
The Mexican Drug Cartels are using the influx of illegals to cover their shipments of drugs across the border. And ninety three thousand Americans died this last year from drug overdoses, a lot of them from fentanyl and methamphetamine from the aforementioned Drug Cartels.
This is a much more complicated situation that it seems on the surface. Some people think we should just have open borders, obviously without thinking through what it would mean. The illegals are coming from all over the world, not just from the Caribbean nations and some of them do not mean us well. Some of us do remember 9/11 all too well.
Democrats were horrified at those invading their sacred halls., but they did not stop to think that these were people who had voted them in to office, or voted specifically against them. The people to whom they were responsible, and who were clearly not happy with them. Which puts a slightly different light on the situation.
AOC, always ready to run off at the mouth, claimed to be afraid, at the time, of being raped, but it turned out that she wasn’t actually there at all.
John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog, suggested that If the Republicans were “going to stage an insurrection, at least one of us would have remembered to bring a firearm. And we would certainly not have called on a “shaman” wearing horns and a fur hat to lead it. The fact that a small rabble of unarmed protesters should be able to access the Capitol illegally is shocking, and everybody saw the videos of the guards opening the doors and waving the protesters into the building. The protesters entered in orderly fashion and stayed between the red velvet ropes.
Speaker Pelosi’s investigation is a joke. But Joe Biden’s policies are proving to be a major failure. Yet with all this Pelosi and her crew do not seem to recognize that a large contingent of the American people tried very hard to express their disappointment and displeasure. They’re still obsessed with trying to find something more to blame on Trump. They might, more profitably, try to understand why a fairly large sector of the American public is not particularly happy with them and what they are doing. That is what it was all about.

Lots of controversy about the Olympics. We seem to be operating in a phase of super-sensitivity to language and names, that sort of thing. “Alien” has been deemed a bad word, not to be used. You will notice that we no longer have illegal aliens crossing the border illegally, but they have become “migrants” instead. and don’t call them “illegal”, though they are.
The death of George Floyd from a massive fentanyl overdose, (according to two autopsies done at the time,) was immediately blamed on the police officer who restrained his violence by kneeling on his neck. At the time, I felt around my neck and shoulders and learned that it was quite possible to kneel on the bones there, without harming the person being kneeled upon. I also read at the time that the Minneapolis police department trained their officers in that kind of restraint. But that was me at home with my own neck.
I’m on the West Coast, never been to Minneapolis, know nothing about police procedures there, and nothing whatsoever about George Floyd. Only what I read online. As soon as “Black Lives Matter” was attached to the event and the death of George Floyd assigned to racist police brutality, riots and protests broke out across the country and the whole thing became a massive racist event. There was a trial and Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder and sent to prison. I am inclined to believe, unjustly. But I am just a distant reader of media reports, and a complete non-participant.
We remain in an era of super-sensitivity to the meaning of words and actions. Kneeling to protest the national anthem has become a “cutesy protest” that should not be allowed anywhere. As a personal protest, that is one’s own business, but in a public venue, out of line and the protesters should be removed
The Olympic Committee, in charge of selecting athletes to represent the United States of America at a worldwide venue, should have had any prospective athletes kneeling to protest their own country, the country they represent, or it’s national anthem, on the next plane back home in disgrace. Out of any competition. To allow them to continue to pretend to represent their country in an international competition is way out of order and a failure on the part of the Olympic Committee. And Shame on them. The athletes want, of course, a medal. They want to be famous as a participant, but hopefully a medal winner. But caught up in the ‘fashionable’ protests going on at home, may be misguided into thinking they are doing something clever. Should NOT be allowed. Athletes accorded the honor of being allowed to participate in an international competition to represent their country, should be expected and instructed to behave themselves appropriately.

The Federal Reserve is still engaged in a historic frenzy of dollar creation and, perhaps not surprisingly, each one of our existing dollars is still losing value. Will Fed officials continue finding reasons to believe that inflation is not a problem—or will they resolve to stop creating it?

Republicans have been warning for some time that Joe Biden’s policies are going to lead to inflation, and each one of our existing dollars is losing value. The Federal Reserve is creating dollars in a frenzy. U.S. inflation has accelerated in June at the fastest pace in 13 years. Recovery from the pandemic and ending lockdowns certainly has something to do with it. Restaurants are open and people are dining out again.
The Labor Department said that last month’s consumer-price index increased by 5.4% from a year ago. The highest 12 month rate increase since August 2008. Oddly enough, elsewhere a report from the Senate Subcommittee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs states that the Biden administration is spending $3 million a day to NOT build the wall. So far they have spent somewhere between $1,837 billion to $2,087 billion in order to NOT build the wall. The funds don’t seem to include any decrease in the number of border crossers either. Where’s it going?
Biden stopped construction of the wall his first day in office. That cost $6 million a day until contractors carried out layoffs. They have to pay contractors at least $3 million a day just to guard the steel, concrete and other materials waiting to build a wall that isn’t going to be built. Yet this year Customs and Border Protection had had over 1.1 million migrants , a 20 year high. Contractors are guarding metal gates that Biden refuses to install. Roughly two million illegal immigrants are expected to cross the unprotected border in 2021.
I keep remembering that Congress, a while back, said that we could probably handle about a million immigrants a year. And they were talking about Legal immigrants. Jobless claims keep rising, more unemployment benefits, yet employers say they can’t find workers.
Remembering FDR fondly, as Democrats always do, they are considering a new CCC. Democrats do remember FDR as one of their great heroes, yet economists from USC, determined that FDR made the Great Depression last 7 years longer than it needed to be. The new CCC is to be a Civilian Climate Corps, unnecessary and unbelievably stupid. The climate of the earth is determined by the action of the sun. Carbon dioxide, which they prefer to blame, is a natural fertilizer for plant growth, and is greening the world and feeding hungry people. FDR’s CCC was a lot of make-work jobs digging ditches and leaning on shovels. But we may get to that yet.
Remember that the Federal Government has no money of its own. It all comes out of your pocket!

Texas is reportedly charging illegals caught crossing the border with “trespassing” and sticking them in jail. Don’t know if they have enough jails for that many! It is an outrageous situation. It would undoubtedly help if President Joe Biden received some 20 thousand outraged letters at the White House. His re-election is questionable, and the American people are not happy with open borders. That’s just one border sector, not the whole border. Texas has a very long border with Mexico. The address at the White House is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One must assume that the president believes that the American people approve, I strongly suspect that they do not.

Elephants are very large animals. It has become a commonplace to refer to “the elephant in the room” meaning something so important or large that it cannot be ignored. Cannot be hidden any more. Found this delightful photo of an elephant camouflaging itself, to illustrate the point.
President Joe Biden has declining memory problems. His staff prepares notes for him to remind him of what he is supposed to be saying or doing. The slip ups are frequent. The former White House physician wants him to have cognitive testing. People are noticing, and wondering just who is running the government. A lot of people are trying to look up Ron Klain, the President’s Chief of Staff, assuming that he’s the one who is really running the show. It is beginning to become an elephant in the room thing.
So just who is Ron Klain, President Biden’s Chief of Staff? Is he really the one who is running the government or is that just political rumor-mongering?

Here is a post from Scott Johnson at Powerline, one from Kevin Liptak at CNN, and one from Annie Goldsmith at Town and Country Magazine. I don’t know any of the players, but I have certainly noticed the President’s verbal fluffs and stumbles and evidence of his declining memory. Have no idea what is to be done, the idea of the Vice President ascending to the presidency is scary indeed. President Biden said he picked her because he wanted a black woman as his vice president. So that’s where we are.
The Southern border is a crisis. Texas, which has the longest border with Mexico, and the most trouble with illegal immigrants, is in the process of building their own walls to slow the illegal flow. They are also charging them under Texas law, with “trespassing.” We have long since passed the million illegal immigrants number. I think Congress at one point decided that we could probably handle one million legal immigrants in a year’s time. They assumed, of course, that our immigration laws would be obeyed and Border Control and ICE could handle it all. Didn’t occur to anyone, I guess, that the Democrats were so intent on being fully in charge, that they would open up the borders to get new voters.

Can you remember when the Democrats decided to impeach President Donald Trump? It was when he first came down the escalator to announce that he was running! Democrats had already determined that they were about to elect the first woman president in Hillary Clinton. She had not only been the First Lady, but the Secretary of State! Things like “First Woman President” are exceptionally important to Democrats. They deem those “Firsts” as enormously important benchmarks. I’m not a Democrat, so things like a thriving economy, low crime rate, controlled borders, and a modest national debt seem of greater value, because the rest of us out there are more apt to thrive when the government is well managed.
There are, unfortunately, many who are a little short in the economics department, and don’t seem to recognize that buying a lot of votes with what seem to be important projects, also means that the people have to pay back the cost. The federal government has no money of it’s own! Every penny they spend comes out of your pocketbook, and mine. That’s why some of us get a bit alarmed when the talk of undefined “infrastructure” gets a bit excitable. “Infrastructure” is one of those words meant to cover a lot of federal misdeeds., as well, of course, as getting more votes. Getting reelected is several notches higher than some fancy repairs to a bridge.
Did I mention that San Francisco is looking at some fancy street waste cans that actually cost $21,000 each? It’s true!
We are just ordinary humans out there, we try to keep up with the news and understand what is really going on, but we have kids and houses and jobs and have to earn enough extra to pay for the bright ideas of some ignorant bureaucrats. Must be fun in a way. You can just shut down a whole pipeline and thousands of jobs, and blame it on climate change in complete confidence that not one in a hundred people have any real idea whether the climate is changing or not, nor if it is of any importance whatsoever.
What I was getting to in the first place is that the Democrats are now attempting to build up the absolute horror of the :”invasion” of the Capitol building on January 6. They are sure that they can somehow establish that the “invasion” was ordered and planned by the hated Donald Trump, and make sure somehow that he never returns to plague them again. We have read that it was planned and organized on Facebook.
Paul Allard Hodgkins was sentenced to 8 months in prison this week, after pleading guilty to
felony-level obstruction of an official proceeding for supposedly interrupting the congressional count of Electoral College votes that took place during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6 of this year. Hodgkins’ is the first felony conviction to emerge from the events that “the mainstream media insist on inaccurately describing as an “insurrection.” Will there be more? I think the Democrats want every single soul who wandered through the Capitol Building behind bars for a very long time. Their dignity was attacked. They might keep in mind that they can be replaced, and voters aren’t all that outraged!
There seems to be a bit of double standard proceeding disrupting. Conservatives who disrupt go to prison, but leftists who do it just go on home. What Hodgkins actually did was trespass and demonstrate without permission on the Senate floor where he stood for 15 minutes waving a pro-Trump flag and taking selfies. Didn’t yield a weapon, threaten anyone, but merely seized an opportunity to make a political statement in an abandoned Senate chamber after others has forced their way in. Prosecutors openly acknowledged that Hodgkins did not personally engage in or espouse violence or property destruction. So there you go. Your elected representatives hard at work protecting the dignity of their efforts. Clearly this is the worst thing that has ever happened to them, and they want every single one of the miscreants in prison immediately. Their dignity has been mortally offended. Hodgkins is the first to be sentenced, It’s not clear if he has been detained all this time, or if there are others and how many of them. His prosecution and sentencing seems absurd and fairly outrageous. The Senators have been working hard at making a very big deal of it all for the last 7 months.

“President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has canceled 31 miles of border wall construction set for Laredo, Texas, that was previously funded by Congress and former President Trump’s administration.” Headlines from Breitbart.
Texas, which has the longest border with Mexico, gets the brunt of it. The accompanying headlines are even scarier. Mostly single male border crossers bused to Louisiana cities, Biden registers lowest approval rating of his presidency, Dems plan to hide amnesty behind $10 billion border project. Texans are building their own border wall as fast as they can.
Democrats attach a lot of importance to being “the first”. Hillary was going to be the first woman president. (they forgot to notice that she is a compulsive liar, has gotten drunk in most of the world’s capitols as Sec. of State, and killed off five people who worked for her and were her responsibility with her negligence, and lied about it.) Now they are looking ahead to having the first gay president with Pete Butigieg, who couldn’t even manage the small town he was mayor of. Never mind what might be good for America and Americans.
Well, can’t have any border wall funded by Trump. It might actually work. He had a remarkable amount of success with his efforts. That’s how we got the “warp-speed” vaccine produced. And a ban on any traffic from China as soon as the virus was discovered in the next suburb north of my house. Black Americans have taken notice of the success of his “opportunity zones”and appreciate the effort. Can’t have that either.
Nancy Pelosi is trying desperately to get as much mileage out of the so-called “invasion” of the capitol on January 6 as she possibly can. They’ve called it a “riot”, an “invasion” and every other scary word they can come up with, but except for the Capitol policeman who shot Ashli Babbitt, no one was hurt at all. Pelosi wants them all in prison, of course. All planned on Facebook, they say. Pelosi is sure that the “riot” was planned and organized by Trump, but I have found no evidence of that whatsoever. Is that what she impeached him for?

I would like to think that Republicans largely seek legislation that will make things work better for everybody, but of course it doesn’t always work out like that. Democrats, on the other hand, seek legislation that will buy votes. That’s why fixing “infrastructure” is always a popular goal, as well as new entitlements and free junior college, that sort of thing. The trouble with a lot of new entitlements is that entitlements simply mean taking taxpayer money to give free benefits to some people. Taking another $5,000 from the rich may not be a big deal, but taking another $500 from those who can’t afford it may make a traumatic difference in their lives.
A Wall Street Journal article points out Joe Biden’s plan for an Entitlement Society. “For the first time in history,” they say. ‘more than half of all Americans would be on the Federal dole.“
For the first time in U.S. history—except possibly for the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, for which we don’t yet have data—more than half of working-age households would be on the entitlement rolls if the plan were enacted in its current form. Contrary to Mr. Biden’s assertion that his plan “doesn’t add a single penny to our deficits,” his plan would add more than $1 trillion to the national debt over the next decade.
“National Debt” doesn’t sound like a very big deal, until you recognize that you and your friends and neighbors are the ones who will have to pay it off.
“At the same time, today’s news carries the story that “Jobless Claims Unexpectedly Jump 51,000 to 419,000.” So you will be paying unemployment benefits to 419,000 people. At the same time, people who were enjoying working from home in their pajamas, are finding out that working from home may be entirely over. And some are quitting because of it. People liked working from home? Who knew?
In the midst of a crime wave, Biden wants to ban handguns. Presumably based on the idea that anyone who has a handgun is a bad person. He also stated at the same Townhall that “crime is down” which is just a remarkable silly statement.
After a hard summer day at work, most people want to clean up after trying to keep up with the Biden inflation. A quick shower under a healthy stream of water is another luxury that the White House wants to take away from Americans.His Department of Energy has proposed to set a limit on how much water can flow through a shower head to 2.5 gallons per minute. The Trump rule could have allowed shower heads to put out “10 to 15 gallons per minute”. but the Biden administration says we just cannot have that. We are short on water? One would think that if consumers wanted to save money that would be their choice. Policing the showers of private citizens is not exactly a legitimate function of government.
But the principle of limited government doesn’t sit well with Democrats. Which is why the Biden White House has said it will review several of the previous administration’s other energy rules, including policies governing light bulbs, toilets, and dishwashers.
Meddling lawmakers and bureaucrats pat themselves and each other on their backs when they legislate and regulate on behalf of conservation and the environment. They like to think of themselves as moral and intellectual superiors pursuing noble objectives.
Issues & Insights (good website) says: ” Democrats believe there’s nothing in our lives too personal for them to supervise, too sacred for them to intervene in. Trump might have said some coarse things at rallies, and many of his tweets were unacceptable among our elitists, but at least he wasn’t determined to micromanage Americans’ lives.”

Race has certainly become the national “hot button”. The Civil War is being re-fought, statues are being torn down, places re-named, demonstrations, riots, and everything, everywhere is inspected for possible racist content or acts. The hottest bit of it all seems to be what has come to be called “Critical Race Theory.” The current battle is about getting Critical Race Theory taught in America’s public schools, as well as becoming widely available in the media. This goes along with “white supremacy” and things like the “1619 Project” which was a big New York Times effort to claim that slavery began in America in 1619 with a big shipload of slaves from Africa who were sold in that year to Virginians and started everything. That turned out to be baloney, but it was widely believed.
“Critical Race Theory” in the wake of “Black Lives Matter” sounds like it would be a good thing, but this is not the case. Here is some good information for finding out what this is and what the facts are and deciding what you think about it all. We’re talking ideologies here, and Marxism. You will find it interesting, and hopefully good information on current themes. Well, it’s not like you are not being assaulted daily with progressive ideological radicalism, but sometimes they just go a bit too far. Do listen to the conversation, you will find it interesting and informative.
